Great stuff for Dan.  I think Dan has a decent chance to win the next round as his opponent is not that much higher ranked than he is.

6-1 1-2*

He only lost 2 points on serve in the 1st set but then lost 4 straight points at the start of the 2nd...

6-1 2-6
He was 15-40 on Lammer's serve twice in that set and didn't break.

Lost 6-4 in the 3rd. Frown  The stat is break points won: Dan 4/11 (36%) - Lammer 4/5 (80%).

Onto AO qualies.

Ah, that's a shame although there was little between winning and losing. If only Dan could have converted one or two more break point chances.

Big pity that Evo didn't win last night as he'd now be in the quarters. Rolling Eyes lol Lammer won by retirement against Ferrero.

Anyway, Dan's not to think about that because his Aussie Open qualifying campaign starts in about 7 hours against a wildcard ranked 1352.

Evo beat Grigelis, who he lost to at DC, yesterday for the lost of only 4 games.

Thanks Allan.  That's good to know.  Let's hope this will help him get over the gremlins of the 5 sets losses he had in the DC.

His points from Lexington last year have dropped off and now currently Dan's ranked 366.

In the last singles match he played was in R1 in a Futures in Frinton where he lost to Richard Gabb 6-4 6-3 and here's one spectator's description of it: Evans just wasn't at the races. His main tactic seemd to float the ball back into play and hope Gabb would make an error. He rarely went for a winner. Dan didn't want to be there.

And I've found an extract The Times:

The Net Post wondered what he was doing next and he said he really didnt know. If ever there was a player who requires a sense of direction, firm guidance, encouragement and the right decisions being taken about his career, it is Evans, who is a fine talent that, unless something positive happens soon, one fears will drift out of the game and be lost to it, which would be a terrible sin.

So yet more sad times for him. Smile I get the feeling that might need to take a break from the game to refresh and re-energize himself.

20 is a worryingly young age to need 're-energizing'...
