I think he just needs a break to clear his head of anything negative that's on his mind...
Going on a Murray style fitness regime at some point in the next few months, or at least before next year, would help him physically and mentally as well.

That break from the game is happening....

... might not actually be a bad thing.

The break wasn't a bad thing as Dan's reached 4 finals in the 5 tournaments he's played since the break.

Just went in the QFs.
On the verge of rejoining the top 300.
Plays Frederik Neilson next who just beat Dustin Brown.

Dan won his first title in almost 3 years a couple of weeks ago in Sheffield. Then this week he's came through the qualifying for the ATP event in Zagreb, Croatia.
He's had quite a few decent results in the last 4 or so months.

Thanks Allan for the update. I wonder if there is any hope for Dan to make it big (into top 100/50)

I think it's hoped/believed that he can get to at least the top 100.

If Andy doesn't play Davis Cup next week then I think Dan will be our 2nd singles player.

He was, of course, the 2nd singles player against Poland and then Lithuania a few years ago unfortunately not winning any of the matches, and he has also been a hitting partner 2 or 3 other times.

Hopefully he will be mentally stronger and technically more capable this time around. There is no shame in losing as long as he gives his all.
