Just catching up now. Amazing result, and bizarre scoreline.

Some win that. About time he pulled off a win like this in a match where he actually scores points for it!

Amritraj is on something of a Brit bashing streak. Beat Ward and I think Baker recently too. Seems none of the British players can stop him. Hopefully Klein or Evans can.

Dan will play the new Brit, Brydan Klein, who beat Amritraj.

According to livescores, today's win takes Dan up 18 places to 281 in the rankings, ahead of Jamie B and Josh G who both lost in 2 close sets today to much higher ranked players.

Evans and Bogdanovic above Baker? WHAT.

Hard to believe Baker and Goodall were both top 200 last year. Both have had horrific 2013's, although at least Baker's defeats came at Challenger and ATP level. Josh has been struggling horribly at Futures level.

Hopefully Oliver Golding will be back in playing gear again soon, he's the best prospect.

I disagree. Kyle Edmund has achieved more at a younger age and is far more consistent.

Golding did make a final last week, although he was struggling with a nasty cough all week.

Klein getting slaughtered! Dan leads 6-2 5-1 - with a lot of support from team GB I suspect!

Final score 6-2 6-2

Strange twitter spat started just before Dan's match today, and NH has now deleted his first tweet. Odd though, as he's always seemed a big Dan supporter.

Neil Harman ‏@NeilHarmanTimes2h
Dan Evans in April: "I don't work hard enough; I'm pretty bad at my job." Dan Evans in June: wild card into Queen's. A very mixed message

Dan Evans ‏@Evo1512161h
@NeilHarmanTimes so positive as always!!!

Neil Harman ‏@NeilHarmanTimes1h
@Evo151216 I believe in honest opinion as you know Evo. Acknowledge your very good recent results. Hope it is a sign of more to come.

Neil Harman ‏@NeilHarmanTimes1h
Am being roundly condemned for my Tweet about Dan Evans and Queen's WC. I'm old enough to take it. Dedication to this sport has to be utter

Jonathan Overend ‏@5livetennis9m
Dan Evans playing well in Nottingham by the sounds of things. @NeilHarmanTimes a stimulant?!! #CourtConfidential

Neil Harman ‏@NeilHarmanTimes1m
I see Dan Evans beat the new Brit Brydan Klein 6-2 6-2 in Nottingham today. Fine, positive result deserving of praise

Thanks Elena for posting the original tweet, picked up a bit of the conversation but the original comment had already been deleted.
I am a big fan of Harman but he has disappointed me today. Dan has been working extremely hard since the last DC as he said he would lots of practice at NTC with encouragement from Leon Smith it would seem. He has had some positive results on the tour.  Although in my opinion both Dan and James Ward deserve their wild cards for the great job they did in Davis Cup in April. I am glad Harman chose to delete the original tweet.

Mind you the new great import from Oz doesn't seem to be all that.

Dan beat 13th seed Jarko Niemenen (WR 37) in the 2nd round at Queens today 6-4 6-7 6-4 Brilliant!

Plays Delpo next

Live rankings site puts Dan at 249 today, one place below his career high (248 in Aug 2009). He overtakes Brydan Klein to be Britain's no 3. He has been given a qualifying wild card for Wimbledon

He was a break down in the decider, broke back for 4-4, consolidated a really close game for 5-4, then it got rained off with Ad Nieminen.

I was checking now and then to see when it resumed.. but next thing I saw Evans had won. Must have won three points in a row from restart?

Apparently so

The 23-year-old from Birmingham was three points from victory when rain stopped play, but returned to compete a 6-4 6-7 (6-8) 6-4 victory.
Evans, ranked 240 places lower than Nieminen at 277 in the world, won three successive points on the resumption, finishing it off with a drive volley.
