Looks like Leon Smith may have breathed some life into the DC.  Thought his choice of Baker and Ward was a good one.  Flemski should do the job in the doubles.  Ward's opponent may have pleaded tiredness, but I think Ward is a player to watch out for.  He has been training at the same academy in Spain as Andy and is now being coached by Rusedski.

I wonder what zone GB have to get to before Murray opts to play.

If we're in Group I then there will be a lot of pressure on him to play.

He's going to have to play DC at some point between now and the Olympics if he wants to play at the Olympics.

Despite what David Mercer (I think) said  about it being a pity that Andy didn't play, I think this result vindicates Andy's decision not to play.  Other players now have the experience of winning live rubbers and will be much more confident in future DC matches.  I think he should let them get on with it for the time being (although I take the point re needing to play at some point to participate in the Olympics - I hadn't realised that).

Phew Jesus the first few posts in here made me worry they'd bloody lost! BOOM BOOM cmon yeah

I think that although it might seem like it's Leon Smith's input that has made this difference to the outsider, they probably would have won it under John Lloyd too, but I'm all up for Leon to het some good press!

I think a younger more energetic captain was long overdue here anyway.  I think if Andy sees genuine progress, he could well play in the 2nd tie next year.

Better than playing against Greece, Iceland, Moldova, etc.  Until now GB hasn't won a DC tie since September 2007 against Croatia when Henman made his last appearance.  Even then I think we were a bit lucky because two of Croatia's top players were unavailable, and Andy was out through injury.
