There are 6 players here. Somehow I seem to recall that the Captain can only bring 4 players to the match. I suppose 2 of these will drop out at a later date ?

All I'm sure all 6 will go to Lithuania with 4 going into a final squad and the other 2 being hitting partners.

Ah that makes sense thanks. I suppose if one of the main 4 gets injured then the captain has the right to use one of the remaining 2 hitting partners to make up the numbers ?

Thanks. So that means that you hope there is no injury to your Singles players after Thursday otherwise your Doubles player is going to get grilled in the Singles.

Well, Fleming is a competent singles player. He outplayed a guy ranked just outside of the top 300 just a few days ago.

Ah that is good news. Strength in depth. I really feel that this is the beginning of a new era for British tennis where it will become a team game in DC and not just 2 guys like Tim and Greg did. This is the first time we have a proper Doubles team to complement the Singles players.

Singles rankings of Lithuanian players255 Ricardas Berankis (the guy who beat Ginepri, ranking sure to go up to about 220) 568 Laurynas Grigelis (beat WR 186 yesterday) 865 Dovydas Sakinis Doubles rankings of Lithuanian players1,273 Laurynas Grigelis (but will move up to about 920 at least as he's got to the QFs of a Challenger event this week) 1,579 Ricardas Berankis   Definetely not filling me with optimism...

Thanks for the useful stats.
The problem is that the ranking doesn't tell the whole story unfortunately. The remember the last time Andy played, his opponent played much better than his ranking suggested and even Andy (with a dodgy wrist so had to play a mostly counter punch style) had a hard time putting him away. Evans got annihilated in both rubbers even though his ranking suggested that he should be able to win 1 of the 2 rubbers or get very close to winning 1 but it didn't happen. Evans collapsed mentally.
If their #2 player plays inspired tennis for 1 of his 2 rubbers then it will be at least 3-2 to them. I have confidence in our Doubles team. They have a winning mentality. I really don't know about our Singles player.

My serve helped me out in many points during the match because some times he was more solid than me from the baseline."
