Great Britain will travel to Sweden for their Fed Cup World Group II play-off in April.

The draw, made in London on Tuesday, is not the toughest GB could have had - a tie with France looked trickier on paper, while a trip to Argentina could also have been problematic for Judy Murray's side.

Like GB, Sweden progressed from the recent Europe/Africa Group I matches played in Israel. They have two players ranked in the world's top 100 - Johanna Larsson (62) and Sofia Arvidsson (74).

Larsson's ranking puts her one place behind British number one Elena Baltacha at present, while Arvidsson is ranked 15 places higher than Britain's other likely singles player Anne Keothavong.

However, GB would appear to have an advantage in terms of strength in depth with Heather Watson and Laura Robson - their doubles players in Israel earlier this month - both ranked just outside the top 100 in singles.

The two other players who represented the Swedes in Israel, Hilda Melander and Ellen Allgurin, are outside the top 500.

GB captain Murray was quick to emphasise her side's strength in depth.

"Sweden's top two players, Johanna Larsson and Sofia Arvidsson, are similar in ranking to our top two players, Elena Baltacha and Anne Keothavong, so it should be an interesting match-up," she said on the LTA's official website.

"Heather Watson and Laura Robson are very close to them in rankings as well, so we have strength in depth which is a big advantage as the play-offs are best of five rubbers over two days.

"We are looking forward to it as it's a big opportunity for GB to grab a place in World Group II."

The tie, which will take place on April 21-22, will be GB's first match at this level of the competition since 1993.

Victory would see them promoted to World Group II - the second tier of the global competition - in 2013

Could've sworn the BBC reported they were playing Belarus in the play-off back after their last tie. confused
