If at first you don't succeed, you fail.

Yep, saw that. And they said a while ago that they weren't "stealing" people from other countries as that is what Tennis Australia was implying, but that is exactly what they have done! Carl Maes, Belgian Fed Cup captain and Steven Martens, head of the Flemish tennis association, are both joining the LTA!

Oh dear Frown

I'm not surprised.  I saw Naomi's Bebo page and I was quite shocked really.  Its such a shame as shes just had a good few wins recently.

Draper gets a new five-year deal.

Yep, and nowt on developing the base level. It's like Ferguson buying 11 strikers and not bothering with defence or midfield.

And he snogged my wife.

I think he's a glory boy who's out to make headlines. He's looking purely short term. Trying to flash the cash at the top end of the game. Look at the new Roehampton facility - as Petch says, where are the players going to come from to train at this fantastic centre (which is another debate - 70% outdoor courts in Britain, do me a favour)?

Draper also dropped LTA responsibility for parks and community tennis.

To create an effective sharp end, we need a broad base. France has two million competitive juniors; Spain four million; Germany the same. Britain has about 6,000.

The depth of the problem is unimaginable, and Draper has seen this and decided to put resources where he will have limited but headline-making effect.

http://www.sportinglife.com/tennis/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=wimbledon/10/06/27/WIMBLEDON_Draper.html

Draper is caught out with only 2 players in the top 100 in the world whereas two years ago, he promised to have 5 top 100 players by 2010.

Failed to communicate the strength of the sport. 80% of my job is to grow the sport.  Tennis is a healthy sport.

Leon Smith :  head of men's tennis (replace Paul Anacone).

We are 4 years in a 10 years transformation.  It takes time.  We are getting more kids to play tennis.  Need business continuity.

We are always prepared to sit down, discuss, behind closed doors, to have constructive discussions on how to improve British tennis.

Prediction : in 2012,  Andy Murray and 1 or two more British players in the top 100 in Men's single.  It is likely that Andy Murray will be the only men player in the top 100 by 2012 !
