He needs to cut out some of his inconsistency though if he's to get anywhere against Djokovic, who he plays next, because he really should have taken that match in straight sets as Vesely's own consistency wasn't all that great.

Great chance for Kyle to test himself against the best in the world at this stage of his career. Hopefully Kyle can take some inspiration from Fratangelo's performance last week in Indian Wells.

Here we go.  cmon yeah Kyle, let your tennis do the talking!

So at 2-0 up Djoko decides to do a bit of clowning to entertain the crowd, which of course unsettles Kyle who's probably nervous enough at is it.  What a pr*ck!

Kyle breaks in the 5th game to get on the scoreboard.  4-1.

Kyle holds with some great serving.  4-2.

At last Kyle seems to be loosening up and playing the tennis we know he can play, much to the delight of the crowd who've been supportive of him throughout.  5-3.

Despite a sloppy 9th game, Djoko takes the set 6-3.

Kyle holds in the 1st game of the second set.

I love it when Djoko gets frustrated.  Took him 5 BPs and nearly 10 minutes to get the better of Kyle in the 3rd game.

Kyle holds.  2-3.

And gain with some great shot-making.  3-4.

Djoko steps up a gear and finally takes the set 6-3 after what was quite an entertaining match.   Kyle certainly has nothing to be ashamed of after that performance which will have been a good experience for him and to judge just where his tennis is at.  It should boost his confidence a little too knowing that he's capable of testing the best.

Good win for Kyle today against Rosol in the first round in Bucharest. In straight sets 7-6 7-6. Fought back from a double break down in the second. Plays Garcia-Lopez in the second round.

Great win against a good clay player. Paire next up, and Kyle actually won their only previous meeting in Le Gosier but it will all depend on which Paire turns up.
