Oh wow she won! God that looked like a close match like they all seem to have been. Hopefully this will give her a bit more attention, Heather is a little older than Laura though remember

Just caught the score and it sounds like it was a really tough match. Well done Heather. Another British tennis drought ended!

There's a piece in today's Observer about the number of girls taking up tennis inspired by Heather and Laura. And lovely pic of Heather on the front page.

Well done Heather, what an amazing week! I checked the scores several times in the night - so many breaks of serve, it was imposssible to tell who would win.
Just checked the stats - and they both won exactly the same number of points 129/258. The same thing happened in Laura's match with Chang, but Heather managed to follow Lendl's brilliant advice, and win the last point!
Doubles not going so well, but who cares really?

Wow!
Woke up at like 7, remembered this match, checked to see the result and saw Chang was serving for the match, but Heather had break point. Checked again and saw Heather hold, then it was 1-1 in TB and then last time it had finished.
Did she really serve for the match in the 2nd set? And save three championship points?
Sounds like an epic (in WTA terms). What amazing guts and mental fortitude to win in her first final considering how unbelievably tight it was and the match points saved after squandering the 2nd set and a match point of her own.

Wooo!
Pity, though, that it was so early in the morning and that it wasn't broadcast either for whoever was up.

I love how the media spins things: Heather Watson says Japan Open win is 'best day of my life', when she clearly said "one of the best days of my life"
