True I suppose you never know.
But given our history, I find it unlikely to think we might have a 2nd player capable of reaching anywhere near the heights of Andy Murray any time in the near future. But there's always hope.
As for the women, is there any upcoming talent anyone is getting excited about?
If I recall correctly, the British number 1 at the time couldn't even qualify for the poxy ASB Classic here in January. Got smahed by some 2nd rate NZer in the qualifying. It was either the British number 1, or at least one of the top ranked British women anyway.
Don't take me the wrong way. These are genuine questions, not trying to be sarcastic or say that there isn't anyone as it may have sounded. Living in New Zealand, (and without possessiong the obsessive natures of a certain former MW member) I obviously have very little idea of what there is in the younger ranks, and even in the 'lower tier' of players. Tbh, I'd not even heard of Jamie Murray until I joined this forum, had no idea Andy had a brother who played. Similarly with Boggo, although I'd heard of him, I basically only knew he was a British tennis player and nothing else.

I suppose that's just the way this sport goes. Because the transition from junior to senior is so unpredictable for many players you don't tend to have people raving about big talents when they're young. I mean look at Monfils. He was top junior when Andy and Djokovic were playing and they've left him in the dust. And guys like Tim and Fed took a good few years to settle into the senior tour and make an impact. Then you have Hewitt who came flying up through the rankings dead young and then lost something. We very rarely get the huge champions that you can watch greatness from a very young age like Nadal. Because of this no-one will put their money on the young teenagers till they're making waves.

So in other words, there's no hint of having a reasonable woman player anytime soon?

Henman 2 spring a suprise indeed however i can't see it coming at RG i think a 3rd round maybe be possible (depending on draw
) which would be a big boost for him considering his grand slam record of late. However remember last year he was probley in a worse state but pull off some amazing tennis at Queens and IMO should have won he damn thing. So i think if he plays good tennis like he did at the end of last year and gets his confidence back there should be some suprises this year. Top 30?????????

Well that's that
And for a change our (ie, Britain's) involvement in a Grand Slam is over before most people realise the tournament has started
Well apart from Andy Murray's brother possibly still being in the doubles? (haven't followed it)

At least there's someone British still involved, at least for another round or 2.
