I think that we should have a thread where we can post updates or thoughts on young players who aspire to become pros and seem capable of it. So this is a thread dedicated to British kids who are yet to make a breakthrough into the U18 circuits.  So mostly about people who are 15 years or younger in age. It'll be great if anyone posts anything they know about them. Or it'll be even better if someone posted about a new prospect that they know about. And this thread will obviously help me to keep track of them.  I'll start posting when I return.  |

The first name that comes to my mind is that of Nicolas Jones. Nick is from Cardiff and is 13 years old. He'll turn fourteen later this week. It'll be really good to see a Welsh player doing well.  He's the only 13 year old Brit in the top 700 of the U16s. He's ranked 103 in the U14s. Of course, no younger Brits are ranked ahead of him. Although he is certainly behind other 13 year olds from different countries, like Carlos Boluda, he shouldn't worry. Because Boluda will either either reach the highest levels of professional tennis and win Grand Slams or else the success will get into his head and he will be ruined. Nick did an interview with BBC Wales before some time. Link.He did really well to win the British U14 championships, held in Bournemouth last month. He was the seventh seed but defeated older and higher ranked players on his way to the title. |

one of my friends at school knows someone who was entered in the boys singles draw at the US Open junior event... i've forgotten his name though... *smacks self*

No.7 on this list He left at the end of last year to go to some tennis college. Very long link , forgot how to make it shorter Aha! Best of luck to him for the future. Just realised I know someone who went off to the US to do tennis more seriously. They must be about 14ish as well
Names? There will be waves of Scotish talents in the years to come I believe. There are quite a few great prospects actually. one of my friends at school knows someone who was entered in the boys singles draw at the US Open junior event... i've forgotten his name though... *smacks self*

Anthony Parkin is a decent prospect actually. Even though he is slightly older than people like Nick Jones, he happens to be our number two in U16s. I'll keep an eye out for him from now on. |
