I know I'm paranoid. But am I paranoid enough?

Going off at a tangent, can anyone tell me how the hell you hit the ball with an extreme western grip like that? I mean, the angle you hold the racket, you don't get any power, right, and the ball just dips into the net? Just my personal experience - am I doing something wrong? I mean, I hit with topspin and a 'mild' western - sort of the korma of western grips - I just want someone to explain this vindaloo approach.

watch rafael nadal do it. with extreme western the spin comes out of the grip itself and nothing else. power comes from everything else. to get juice on it you need a lot of upper body rotation. with a 'mild' western grip (like u and me use) it has something to do with your body, a lot to do with your arm, and everything to do with your wrist. when u use that grip just put the racket on the ground and pick it up to get it exactly right. i don't use it cause it hurts me but lotsa others are better with full western.

using the western grip, the contact point needs to be out and in front of the body... you can't get away with hitting the ball back further.  having said that it is also difficult to hit low balls with the western grip because you need that loop to get the racket out front

yea thats true too. with an eastern grip as long as you have a fair amount of racket head speed the ball will do what you want it to but that is not so with the western.

Hey david best of luck with your tennis playing career. Would be good if you became a thumping player, and then I could proudly say that I know you.
