Bad luck James, but you got a set off him and pushed him hard!
Also, I believe Wardy has a WC into Miami too so hopefully he can win a couple of matches there

I know I'm paranoid. But am I paranoid enough?

Well, he made a right buggeration of that. If he'd done the same thing in the second set that he did in the first, he'd have cruised it. Lopez was clearly out of sorts, and he has the worst backhand in the history of tennis, which Ward was exploiting really well in the first set.

Sadly, it seems that James is only good for 1 set (and usually the first. Thereafter, he shows why he may never break into the top 100.

TJ, it's not confidence. More the lack of same. I know that's what you meant.

It's Kyle who has a WC for Miami. Wardy is down to play Panama Challengers next week, so will get a bit of practice on clay ahead of possible DC duties

Good start for Wardy at Sarasota Challenger. He beat 7th seed Bagnis convincingly, 6-2 6-2.

From Steven ‏@GBtennis  now
Sarasota Ch: In R2 @JamesWardtennis plays (Q)  Antonio Veić CRO WR 254 (CH 119 in 2012), a chance to avenge a 6&1 loss in Santiago last year

Ward takes first set v Veic in wild and windy conditions in Sarasota. Comm just said it had gone from "meh" to "icky" in the last half hour!

I think biscuits is OK, but "son of a biscuit" is a different matter altogether!

Great couple of wins this week. Plays a WC in the QFs but his opponent, Kosakowski, was at a CH a year go until he got injured and has decent pedigree on this surface.

Has 48 points coming off next week so really needs to make some ground here and in the next couple of weeks.
