Sounds like Lloyds got the right attitude, I mean let's face it we need to do something different after our recent performances in DC!
Overall a good choice I think. We need to take a few risks, and it's good that he's planning to do that.
I'm sorry, but Boggo simply cannot cut it, and someone else who is much fresher needs to be given a chance to prove themselves. I used to firmly believe that he would "make it" as a player, but tbh I now seriously doubt it. He doesn't have the right mental attitude. During the last time he looked like a fish out of water, not even trying. He'd already decided after the first few games that he wasn't going to win, and that simply isn't good enough. You have to have belief. I don't know whether he's still as lazy as he used to be also, I can remember him being kicked out of training for being just that.
It would be great if Henman did make a return to DC... He's had a break away from it now, and who know's? People do change their minds over time.
If people like Jamie join the team then I think it'll do both the individual players and the team as a whole the world of good. Some players can really rise to the occassion, and it could be just the opportunity that they need to progress in their career.

lmao, yeah like twice
He even said he wasnt mentally prepared for the Serbia Montenegro tie, even though he'd just won a challenger. In other words, he bottled it. Just like he did in Israel and in Eastbourne.

He just needs to get used to the big stage, he needs a few more atp tourny's to get him used to large crowds imo, and who do you think should take his place??

Can he really get that much more out of the players than Jeremy Bates?

I think so. Jeremy was unlucky, granted. In the last three ties he had to face the Fed and he had to play a tough tie with British No. 1 injured. The tie against Israel, again, his main man was injured day 3, 2nd man down for the whole tie and his other bloke decided not to bring his tennis brain with him day one. In fact, does boggo have an evil twin that can't play tennis that works for Mosad???? But when all of this went on he still chose to ignore the potential in the younger players and give them a chance, still chose to punish his good guys by giving them 3 days by making them play doubles when a fresh young doubles team could have had a better chance and still chose to wheel out the oldies who had proved that their potential wasn't up to much. Hopefully Lloyd won't be going down this route.

Just one question, have you ever played with a ripped hip muscle ? If not I can assure you its not exactly pleasant. Boggo sustained that injury early in the 1st set against Okun.
However, I would like to see Boggo just to tell the LTA to stuff it next time they offer him a DC place, the way they have treated him over the years has been disgraceful, they have deliberately used him as a scapegoat.
Re the Serbia and Montnegro situation: The story which was put out about Boggo not being mentally ready is not actually the real reason he didn't play - the LTA just wanted to cast him as the bad guy again. The real reason is actually quite different, I'm not allowed to tell though

And I believe that later A Bog told that he was ready to play.
Its disgraceful, they way everyone treats him. Both the LTA and the press target him all the time.
And as far as John Lloyd is concerned, I think him to be cast in the same mould as Draper - absolutely no idea about whats happening there in the tennis world outside Tim, Andy and Greg and a big big big mouth. Draper is under the impression that he is going to make huge changes with his revolutionary "shoot down the second raters" attitude. Rubbish. Lloyd is as bad as him. Although I wasn't a fan of Bates, I must say that he was much better than this guy.
And whats the LTA and everyone doing supporting Mackin, Delgado and Goodall? These are the very players they blasted away before Wimbly for being a bunch of no hopers. So the very players that didn't deserve wildcards into a 128 man field event have now become the top contenders to make a British team that is
sure
to reach the World Group.
I'll be really happy if the players boycott DC in years to come. Seriously a country with these sort of governing bodies dont deserve people like Andy Murray in the team.
It'll be good if Greg opts to play in a Challenger that week. Serves them right.

Auckland Should Definitely Play The Doubles Possibly With Greg Or Jamie. Then For Singles Obviously Andy And Try Talk Tim To Play Singles Also Then You Would Have A Team And A Half

I find that very hard to believe. How do you know 100% he was injured? I was at the match, and not once did he look in any discomfort. He didnt take an injury time out. The only discomfort evident was the one inside his head. I'd be very happy for him and British tennis if he does go through some big atp tourneys and gets used to big crowds, but i just cant see it. I'd like to see Jamie Baker given a chance in DC, just to see if he handles the pressure better than A Bog.

Baker's time will come next year. Just because someone will be good does not mean that you should throw him in there before it is time.

Well how long does A Bog need then? Surely he's had long enough to cope? The tie against Ukraine is a perfect opportunity to try some of our youngsters.
