Back in action this week for the first time in months (well, apart from a competitive defeat in Chennai first week) and looking good. Despite starting slow (including losing the first set 0-6 in round 2!) he's won all three matches in a very competitive draw and is into the SFs where he plays Darian King today.

I was intermittently following livescores for Kyle's match yesterday and kept thinking they'd got stuck - but it was a 90 minute first set without about 100 points played! Then a quick second set. So a slow start perhaps but better than the 0-6 1st set the day before!

Currently 2-2 v King (from Barbados), back on serve after breaks in first two games

I watched Kyle's match v Pospisil [5] in Chennai and he acquitted himself very well - especially considering it was his first match since September, and I think, his first ever main tour hard court match. Not sure how or why he got the wild card there - but he was unlucky to get the highest seed playing in the first round (1-4 had byes)

He has a WC into another ATP tournament - Montpellier in a month or so, along with other promising youngsters Lucas Pouille and Thanasi Kokkinakis.

Kyle beat King 6-3, 6-2 and is into the final. Smile

can reach about 330 if wins
about 350's if loses

if has a decent win or 2 in Montpellier could move up into  200s Smile

He came to the brink of the top 300 at the latter end of 2013, before a presumed injury curtailed his season (didn't play after September, but no public notice of any reason why not).

Has a few months now with almost nothing to defend, so a real chance to break the top 300. Could well make the French Open qualies cut if he can win a few tournaments between here and April and stay injury-free.

Just thrashed the in-form Nishioka 6-0, 6-3 to take the title. Smile

Very emphatic win after a very impressive week. Will rise to the 330s a week Monday. Playing again next week.

Kyle progressing nicely through another Futures tournament (on clay) in Weston, Florida. He's 4th seed and in the QF will play Fritz Wolmarans WR 640 (CH 198 in May 2011)

Isner or Querrey in Davis Cup would be quite a step up...

Kyle has just survived a pretty mammoth battle, beating Wolmarans 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 in a two and a half hour plus match. The majority of Wolmarans' games went to deuce, with Kyle having 17 break points (taking 5 of them).

Plays WR727 Arvidsson next, who upset the 2nd seed earlier today. Should be a pretty straight-forward match, although the Swede has dished out four bagels in the main draw already, dropping just 8 games (6 of them today).

all good preparation for DC.  I can see why Leon chose him over Dan Evans.  Leon has proved a pretty shrewd captain.

Kyle thrashed Arvidsson 6-3, 6-1 to record his 9th successive win and will face the top seed and top 250 player Crivoi in the final.

Isner would probably be a step too far (depends on how his arm is faring I guess) but I think he'd stand a chance against Querrey, given the surface.

Depends on the speed of the clay, though.
