About time Britain's (arguably) most promising prospect gets his own thread.

Born in January '95, only recently turned 18. Reached the US Open Juniors semi-finals in 2011 aged 16, losing to the top seed Vesely (now a top 300 player). Won the Aussie Open Juniors doubles title with Federico Silva in 2012, before making the step up to the pro tour and in October he won his first Futures title. Two weeks later he was narrowly edged out by the same player in another Futures final, having lead 5-2 in the first set. Was nominated for British young SPOTY last year and is the youngest Brit to win a professional tournament since Murray.

In 2013 he’s decided to forego his last year in the juniors in favour of the professional tour. He started the year on the heavily stacked US circuit (thanks to the sharp decline in challenger events), having to go through qualifying. Recorded a straight sets win over Daniel Garza (ranked in the 300’s) and lead 6-2, 5-2 against Michalicka (also 300’s) before falling away.

He’s recently returned to Europe and is playing a series of Spanish futures. Last week he beat Ricardo Rodriguez (19yo WR397) before going down to top Spanish youngster Baena (19yo WR311). This week he’s just made his first semi-final of the year, seeing off Sorgi (19yo WR496, former top 15 junior) in R1, a Spanish qualifier in R2 and another top Spanish youngster Perez Sanz (18yo WR537), before going down to former top 150 player (before injury) Carreno-Busta.

Currently ranked #552 in the world, although will rise to a new career high in the 520’s Monday week.

Aye, Carreno was making strides to the top 100 in 2011 before an ill-timed injury. Missed most of 2012. Think he's won 4 Futures this year already and is working his way back up the rankings.

Should be a good test for Kyle.

Kyle lost 4&3. Good effort against what is effectively a top 150 player.

Sounds as if he's making an impact.  Long may it continue!

Lost the first set in his opener 2-6 as well - seems to be a slow starter this week. Impressive run of form continues, he's closing in on the top 500 now.

Edged out 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 by Balazs. Another good effort, another couple of ranking points, and after a rise to around 530 on Monday he should climb another five places next week with 58 ranking points. #500 has 65 ranking points.

Next up for Kyle, I believe, is a few training weeks followed by 2 15k futures and 2 50k challengers all on clay in the US.

Into Vero Beach SFs, where he'll meet fellow 95'er Yoshihito Nishioka. Both are virtually neck and neck in the rankings, both have 1 Futures title and 1 Futures final apiece and they are the 2nd and 3rd highest ranked of their generation behind Kyrgios.

Will break the top 500 a week Monday.

Kyle seems to be doing well - went 0-2 down, but now 6-3 3-0

Wins 6-3 6-1 .

A very dominant win. I thought it would be a hell of a lot closer than that. Nishioka beat Fratangelo in the last round, who's been having a great year at Futures level.

A lot tougher in the final though - plays Carsten Ball, former #108 down in the 700s due to injuries.
