Brief highlights of Kyle's win here:

Plays like Roddick.

That forehand is cringey because he flexes his wrist so much.

Yeah, too much flex = not enough power. Can you see the A-Rod similarities? Similar mannerisms, similar slightly manufactured backhand?

Yeah, quite a low prep of the swing then accelerates high. Definitely has some similarities to Roddick.

This got me thinking. Has Murray ever played a fellow Brit on the tour after Henman?

Those that watch him regularly reckon his forehand is 'huge'.

Difficult to judge until he plays ahigher standard of opponent. I was more impressed by his positioning and angles than power. His forehand looked like it should have been powerful but wasnt. He puts alot of his game into his forehand instead of using variety... the very top players all have variety. Hopefully he makes big improvements to his game over the next few years.

BBC have cocked up and are showing Horrible Histories on red button when Eastbourne is meant to be televised until 7.

The match can be streamed here:

http://www.viplivesports.eu/tennis/160334/2/simon-vs-edmund-(atp-eastbourne)-live-stream-online.html

Kyle 6-5 (on serve) and playing some good stuff. Had a set point on Simon's last service game but Simon played well to save it.

Loses the first set 7-6(5). Has only won one less point than Simon. Nothing in this at all. You wouldn't know Kyle was only a junior and Simon the world #17.

Simon eventually wins 7-6(5), 7-6(3). No signs of any injury from the Frenchman.

Really valiant effort from Kyle, pushed him all way and saved a match point at 7-6, 5-4. Experience really shone through in the 'breakers but plenty of signs there that Kyle has what it takes to go far.

Slice and movement need work, but he's already acknowledged that. Very solid from both wings, generally a good shot selection (although can be a bit impatient at times) and very remarkable fortitude. He's not looked out of place at all on the main tour against top 100 players. Hopefully it's not long before he's playing against these guys more regularly.

Sounds like a great effort from Kyle.
Takes me back to John McEnroe commenting that (a young) Andy Murray could be a top 50 player if he works hard enough ! Ah,those innocent days, wondering if we had a real prospect in Mr M.
I hope young Kyle's ready to put the graft in to get to the top
