Kyle Edmund

Well done, Kyle.  One for the future?
Will break the top 400 after this week and is the second highest ranked off all the current juniors on the main tour (and many of the juniors from previous years), behind only the exceptional Nick Kyrgios.

The main thing though, is that he's got a great attitude and is very mature for his age. I definitely think he's got what it takes to knuckle down and really try to make the best of his ability.

That was surprisingly close.

Sounds like a great effort from Kyle.
Takes me back to John McEnroe commenting that (a young) Andy Murray could be a top 50 player if he works hard enough ! Ah,those innocent days, wondering if we had a real prospect in Mr M.
I hope young Kyle's ready to put the graft in to get to the top
Gosh - it's funny looking back at the young Andy.  I'll never forget coming home from work and finding my son engrossed in Wimbledon the day Andy lost to Nalby.  He said 'Mum - you have to come and watch this young guy - he's amazing' - and so began the love affair.

Andy won't go on for ever, and it would be great to have another Brit to cheer on in Kyle.  yes

^^I remember that Nalby match so well,Elly. The disappointment that he lost offset by the anticipation of what might lie ahead for Andy. How much fun the journey's been !  Aye, let's hope young Kyle can pick up the baton.

Maybe Kyle can beat Federer then Nadal for Andy??

Kyle's seeded 5th again and is in Zverev's quarter (AGAIN!).

Into the 3rd round with ease, thrashing one of the top juniors Nishioka 3&1.

Will face the only other Brit remaining - Jonny O'Mara (missed out on a WC through some technical error but qualified instead - breakthrough tournament) in R3.

Interview with Kyle here. Sounds so much more confident.

It's funny. I decided to watch that Nalbandian match the other day. For two-and-a-half sets, Andy's play was mesmerising:

Thanks for posting this, Nigel.  He really had no fear, did he?  Great to watch again.

And on red button right now. Edmund just gone a set and a break up. He's looking good.

Edit: Kyle won 6-3, 6-2 and will probably have a rematch with 4th seed Sascha Zverev in the QFs, who beat him at the French two weeks ago.

Edit: Or not! From 6-1, 4-4 up Zverev loses 6 games in a row and retires. Wonder what happened there. So Kyle will instead take on the '98 generation's top ranked player Stefan Kozlov, a 15yo.

QF live on red button now.

His opponent is just a kid. A very, very talented kid.

Stefan Kozlov, only 15 years old.

The thought of losing to a 15year old on TV must be embarrassing for Edmund, it would be a psychological burden I feel.
