I liked what Laura said about playing with Andy - how supportive he was.

This all sounds great. Good too what Colin & Ross have said about what they have learned about training etc from being around Andy, and that Ollie Golding and Jamie Baker are going to join the training sessions in Miami.

But I also really liked it when Laura was asked back in September (by Simon Cambers??) if she thought that Andy's experience of playing with her in the Olympics had helped him win his first Grand Slam! A lovely twist on the question she was being asked all the time to explain her own success this autumn.

Laura Robson has won WTA's newcomer of the year award

Robson is the first Briton to win a WTA award since Virginia Wade was named player of the year in 1977.
Former winners of the newcomer award include Clijsters, Maria Sharapova, Venus and Serena Williams, Martina Hingis and Jennifer Capriati.
"I looked at the list of past winners and it's certainly a very impressive line-up that includes many of my idols growing up," added Robson.
"I hope that I can go on to achieve close to what many of the past winners have achieved in their careers."

Laura scheduled to play 8th seed Sloane Stephens (WR 38) tonight in Hobart 1st round, about 1.15am. Two youngest players in top 100?

What days are Laura and Heather playing? One of them is surely playing Monday at least so that will give me something to watch before Andy begins Smile

This is a nice interview Laura did for the Gaurdian:

She's not playing at nearly her best. Should have had that 1st set back on serve.

Courage doesn't always roar - but wins Wimbledon

I could have cried with relief for Laura. How brilliant was she to stay so tough and get the win today, even when she was playing below her best? That's the mark of a real winner right there, to get the job done no matter what, even if nothing seems to be working. Mind you, she does appear to have picked up where Andy left off in the past in terms of ruining my nerves lol.

I was surprised to see Kvitova looking so desperate at times. They all want to win, obviously, but every time Laura came back at her Kvitova looked like she was about to burst into tears. I've seen her play a few times since she won Wimbledon and she just doesn't look as if she is enjoying it much out there.

Still, brilliant result for our Laura.  yay yay yay

Great Result! Very pleased for her.

I think that the game was exciting but the errors indicated that Laura needs a top up of the AM team input. She was often too slow to get into position. Previously that was her worst fault which was the change after playing with Andy and having Judy to help.  The good bits were GREAT.

I wonder if UK has ever got three players into the fourth round in one year?  Suppose that might put a curse on them? I hope not. I shall be up for the Watson match overnight. I have seen all live by staggering my work but will be pleased for a break Sunday!
