Laura up 5-2. Venus to serve.

Laura breaks again for 4-1. Then 6 break points saved to hold at 5-1

Venus holds, Laura serves for the set, but Venus finally wins a break point.  Laura leads 5-3, Venus to serve

So much clay blowing about. Not sure how time violation rules work in WTA, but there have been several pauses to let gusts of wind blow over.

Laura takes 1st set 6-3, and leads 1-0 in 2nd. Venus's lack of match practice showing perhaps, but anything can happen....

Come on Laura!

If she can't hold this together I'll be very disappointed.

Well done Laura - great talent.  Look forward to following you more closely when Andy's no longer around  - eeeek, perish the thought! Think

Maybe Serena will have one of those horrible off days

And she does it! At 3rd match point, takes it 6-3 6-2. Fantastic!

Venus never really seemed a threat, but well done to Laura for keeping it together in tricky conditions.

Serena might be tougher..

If she breaks Serena at all, she'll be pleased.

Well done Laura, I knew I should come on and watch! Ah well, never mind.

Win or lose it might be interesting to see Laura play Serena. I had this weird dream the other night where they played, and guess what Laura did. I don't suppose that's a good omen, but it would be nice.

Serena does have her "horrible off days" as Mackem says. Last week she was pushed to a tie break by Putintseva (WR 108) and bagelled by Medina - Garrigues (WR 58).

I'm hoping she'll find Laura very frustrating (and we won't!) Thrilled that they are getting to play each other anyway.
