Oh well, 6-2 6-2, but Laura made Serena work hard. Even Sharapova only won 5 games off Serena in the Madrid final.

Good effort by Laura, but Serena just a step too far for Laura at the moment. Shame about the DFs. Nice exchange between them at the net.

I came on to say pretty much the same thing. Serena was a step too far, but Laura put up a great fight at times. The double faults didn't help, nor the 30-odd unforced errors. In sense though, the UE's show Laura was going for it, which can't be bad.

I think if Laura is as bright as I think she is she will learn a lot from this one. I hope so. I think she's got such potential. She should just learn from the experience and not get down about it. Serena routinely kills Sharapova on the court, so that should say something.

I've never been Serena's biggest fan (I have a lot of respect for her though) but I really liked how gracious she was to Laura over the net. It was nice to see them having a bit of a chat and a laugh together.

On a side note, I have to say that I thought Serena looked very fit (in the health sense I mean lol). I don't think I've ever seen her look better than that, which might be scary for anyone she faces lol.

Serena is a great person. I know she's made a few mistakes and had outbursts in the past, most notably towards line judges, but on a whole she seems very respectful towards opponents. It's great that she had a nice exchange with Laura at the net after the match.

Until she loses anyway. It's not exactly hard to be gracious in defeat.

Since beating Laura 6-2 6-2 the other night, Serena has thrashed Cibulkova (WR16) 6-0 6-1, and Suarrez Navarro (WR22) 6-2 6-0.

So well done Laura, but Serena is scary!

She will trounce Azarenka 6-1 6-1 in the final. Her SF is Halep/Jankovic, they will be destroyed 6-1 6-1 or 6-1 6-0

In Andy's absence I'll be following Laura (and Heather) at RG.  Unfortunately for Laura it looks like she'll just miss out on being seeded - it'll need at least 2 people above her to pull out.  But, if she reaches (at least) R2 at RG and does OK at Eastbourne she's certain to be seeded at Wimby i.e. her ranking will be in top 32 (which was one of her main objectives for 2013).

It's a shame that Laura is likely to just miss out on a seeding at RG, but if she can get a seeding for Wimbles it would be great. It will be good to follow her at RG, and it will be great to see Heather again.

Good draw for Laura at RG.  She'll beat CW and inherit the draw for the 10th Seed.  This really could be a breakthrough tournament for Laura and could end it in the Top 20.

She's not guaranteed to beat Wozniacki.
