Laura Robson

Never seen so many unforced, and a lot of double faults too. You can see what good basics she really has, but she's got to lose the errors to be able to start winning matches. Final score was Rybarikova 7-6, 6-2. The main reason the first set was so close was that Rybarikova made a lot of errors too!

Good news is that even though Laura lost she said the wrist is good and she hasn't felt any pain. She has a WC for Miami and then intends to use her protected ranking for the clay season.

The LTA should give her a few wildcards for the grass season, and then she'll probably have to play qualies for the rest of the year.

Tough first round in Miami for Laura, she's drawn against Flipkens. Let's hope her serve is a little better and her ground game tighter than in IW.

I see that she was playing an eighteen year old unranked wildcard from Morocco so a good warm up with no pressure. Stats good in that she was not double faulting a lot as she used to do but we will have to wait to see how she does under pressure?

Laura looks like she may be making progress. Still making a lot of errors on her groundstrokes - needs to be a little more patient at times - but signs of improvement on her serve.

Lost 6-4 6-2 to Azerenka in Madrid, but created a number of break point chances, broke once in the first set, and saved 5 MPs on her serve in the second set. Some good shots from her today, and some strong returning at times. The hold at 5-1 in the second was a battle which she came through. Should do her some good.

Seemed to be hitting with more confidence and she looked like she was enjoying being back on a big court against a top player.

ATL,

I followed the scores. Was I correct - just three double faults?  That is a good start to be able to compete.

2 double faults and 2 aces, both in the second set.

Laura lost to Michelle Larcher de Brito today.

I wonder if this continuing losing streak is due to the old injury not fully healed, lack of confidence, lack of match play, lack of commitment, or something else ?

I had so much hope for her when she and Andy almost won gold at the Olympic.

I was there today for Laura, Naomi and Heather and I'm clearly a jinx because they all lost doh Laura looked liked she had lost her confidence. Heather had a lull and nearly pulled it back but not quite. Naomi was blown off court by Su Wei Hsieh who played Andy levels of shot making. Must have been in the zone.

Oh good. I seem to recall Donna was making tennis headlines last year with her tennis achievements.

I am glad to hear Laura's issue is confidence related as this can be fixed.
