Since the LTA doesn't believe in rewarding 'mediocrity' like Banks and Borwell, I think that the first choice team should be Andy, Lloyd, Bates and Draper.
With Lundgren and Brad as the fifth and sixth members if they can be persuaded to change their nationality.
My team would be Andy, Greg, Boggo and the highest ranked doubles player. I would prefer that to be Auckland because he can play singles if there is a freak accident or two.
Since Greg will retire soon, the team from the very next time should be Andy, Boggo, Bloomfield and the highest ranked doubles player if it's on a fast surface. For clay or slow hard, we should have Mackin or Baker instead of Bloomers.
And it's really no use taking people like Goodall as fifth or sixth members. Surely it would be much better if they are allowed to play somewhere they choose to?
Young people like Hewitt or Dyce should be given the chance. I think that Hewitt should be taken as a reward for winning the domestic championships.
Actually, why not make it a rule that the champ will get a wild card into the Wimbly qualies, a wild card into a Challenger of their choice and a DC trip? The Americans give the Kalamazoo champ a wild card into the USO mains, but they end up getting thrashed ( *cough* Young *cough*). Then we could have all high quality players out there.
