Neill Pauffley (#706) won his first Futures title today. Smile Beat Seffert (ranked #315), very impressive result, and entire tournament really - took out three seeds in straight sets. Only set he dropped was to the junior Marterer.

Dan Smethurst also won a Futures (beating Milton in the final) and Bogdanovic made the final in a US Futures.



Should shoot up into the top 600.

Pauffley had an 18 month injury lay-off between the middle of 2010 and the end of last year. Looking at his results, I think he's a player who prefers playing on faster surfaces.

Have to also mention Tom Burn who has just equalled is career high ranking of 611 (that he orginally reached 7 years ago). Tom stopped playing professionally for 6/7 years and he only started playing Futures events again 3 months ago.

In Beijing QF: Colin & Ross just lost 1st set tie-break (7-3) v Lindstedt & Tecau  - who are 3rd in Race to London, with 4 titles this year.
Match seemed very even - until 3-3 in tie break

Colin & Ross went down 0-2 in 2nd set, now up 4-2. Come on!!

Make that 6-2. So Champions tie-break. If they can win this, I think they move up to about 11 in the rankings.

Down a mini-break, up a mini-break, back on serve, back up a mini-break.

Neither team really dominating on their own serve. Ross and Colin are *5-4 up but it's so close.

Four match points. Come on.

That's an excellent result. These guys are the #3 doubles team this year.

Meanwhile Oli Golding is in action in the Doha SFs where he is 2nd seed.

In the SF Colin & Ross play Berlocq & Istomin, who took out the #2 doubles team, Mirnyi & Nestor on the first round.

So pleased they're doing well again after the injuries earlier this year

  Fascinating. Am I alone in thinking he looks like a cross between Andy and Tim Henman?

Good for Colin and Ross - would be great if they could win.  Would make up for the Muzzas losing their title in Tokyo, though doesn't help Jamie of course who as someone has said really needs to sort out a permanent dubs partner.

Comes from a set and a break down.

I make this his 4th Futures final of the year, with a 2-1 record. Hasn't won a Futures outside of Britain though.

Do you know who he's facing in the final?

He should rise around another 20-25 places at least after this week.

Either top seed Clement Reix or Adam Chadaj. It was played at the same time as Oli's match but don't know who won.


Turns out that Oli will play the top seed.

Steven ‏@GBtennis  Doha 10K: (1) Clément Reix FRA WR 409 (CH 250 in 2011) wins the Final 3&4 :-( Good wk for @oli_golding tho, should mean a new CH in the 430s


In the Beijing SF Colin & Ross lost to Berlocq & Istomin. They've had a good couple of weeks though, with a final and a semi final, so some useful ranking points.

Next up is Shanghai, v Harrison & Isner 1st round, with Lindstedt & Tecau (again) in 2nd round if they get through
