I keep thinking what could have been for Colin and Ross if they had an injury free clay season.

Very true. If they weren't injured they could be much higher now and have easier opponents in the early rounds.

If they are healthy now, then hopefully they can push on for higher rankings.

Still I find Doubles is a bit different to Singles in that lower seeds do not always mean easier opponents. If my understanding is correct, a high ranking singles player will make the entry list but will have low seeding because his Doubles points are low.  Is this correct Allan ?

I can think of a few singles guys this also applies as well who have had injuries/illness this year.

Yeah, basically. Singles guys can use single ranking to get in but seeding is purely on doubles ranking.

New career highs for Pauffley (shoots up to #564 - that should get him seeded in the odd Futures) and Smethurst climbs to #331. Tom Burn also up to #570, finally beating his old CH which he equalled last week. Golding will climb to a new CH next week as well.

Jamie Baker just started a match against Michael Llodra in Rennes challenger. Leading 2-1 going with serve

A win for Llodra 6-4 7-5. Jamie kept it competitive.

Golding into the SFs for the second week running, and will face the guy who beat him in last week's final. A minimum of 4 more ranking points should see him rise into the top 430 on around 87/88 ranking points. Roughly 100 would see him inside the top 400. He has accumulated 80 ranking points from 2012 so far, so another 20 (or two more Futures finals after this week) would see him into the top 400.

Couple of GB futures coming up next couple of weeks. Glasgow next week, which is a $15,000 event. Goodall, Baker and Evans are all down to play.

Josh Milton has just reached his 3rd Futures final in the space of 6 weeks. He beat Carsten Ball (who was ranked 108 a few years ago) in the semis 1&3 after Ball had beat the top seed the previous round 1&2.

Josh has only lost 20 games in the tournament so far and plays Austin Krajicek in the final (who has only lost 24 games up to the final, but did loose a set, and beat Smethurst 2&1 in the quarters.)

Strong British line up at this week's GB Futures at Scotstoun in Glasgow - 6 of the 8 seeds including Goodall, Baker and Evans. (Bloomfield, Alex Ward and Pauffley being the other seeds.)

Ashley Hewitt had only won a single ranking point this year before this week and he's gone and beat the Lithuanian 5th seed and top seed Goodall both in straight sets! Evans was beaten by Pauffley in the quarters also in straight sets.

Wow. Saw he'd beaten Grigelis but Goodall too, what on earth?

Saw Evans struggled past Rice, 10-8 in the 3rd set breaker after getting bagelled. Is he a bit under the weather this week or just struggling for consistency?

Pauffley's on a good run of form.

This is Baker's to lose now surely, although Knittel will surely fancy his chances. Any news on the Ward/Knittel and Baker/Bloomfield ties?

And do you know when Golding and Marsalek Doha QFs are?

Apparently the courts at Scotstoun are really fast and I think that Evans prefers more medium paced courts. Livescores for Baker v Bloomfield is on bet365 and I can't check it on my phone.

Ah nice one.

Can't find Bloomfield/Baker (maybe finished?) but found that Golding is 6-7, 3-0 in his QF vs Lucak.

Golding goes down 6-7, 6-1, 4-6 having lead 4-2 in the deciding set.
