Kyle took the first set 6-3 but has just been broken at 3-4. Buchanan to serve for the set.

Kyle breaks straight back! 4-5, serving to stay in the set.

Gone to a second set tie-break.

Which Buchanan takes 7-4.

Into a decider.

Kyle starts the 3rd set the same way he did in the 1st - early break and 3-0 up.

Had two championship points at 5-2* but Buchanan clings on. Edmund to serve for the title..

Buchanan breaks back. Oh dear. Neutral

And Buchanan wins 3-6, 7-6, 7-5.

Kyle had two championship points at 5-2 but then crumbled and lost the last 5 games in a row. Frown

Odd decision that, after his Davis Cup heroics. Missed a chunk of the season with a virus I think? Looked good in spells this season but not a lot of consistency, of course not helped by that illness.

For me the LTA look to be a bit inconsistant with the awarding of the Team Aegon contract. Doesn't seem to take into account time missed through illness or injury or whether or not the player missed a few years due to studying at US college/uni.

Dom Inglot and partner beat the top seeds (Lindstedt/Zimonjic) in the doubles in Doha 6-2, 6-2.  w00t

Marcus Willis beats 3 seeds including Evans and Goodall en route to winning the first GB Futures of the year (held in Scotstoun in Glasgow). It's his first Futures title. trophy Amazingly Willis gets almost twice as many ranking points for this tourney as he got in the whole of last year!

That really interested me. Is he actually a pretty talented player who just hasn't played that many tournaments or has struggled previously for whatever reason? Has he improved significantly in the off-season?

Or is it just a bit of a one-off tournament where he played his best tennis and everything came together for him?

Talented player who's simply not put in the work/effort in the last few years. He did reach 15 in the juniors in September 2008 losing in 3 sets to guys like Rufin, Tomic, Goffin and Janowics.

In the last few months, as far as I've gathered, he's decided to recommit himself to his tennis.

Same age, give or take a few months, as Cox, Evans, Smethurst, Pauffley and Alex Ward. Interestingly they were all born within 6 months of each other. Marcus is one of the youngest of the group.

That is quite interesting, I never noticed those were all so close in age. Who was the strongest in the juniors?
