Congratulations to her but in all honesty I don't really care about our British no1 ranked at 181

I want Elena to climb back up the rankings and be No. 1 again.

Sigh. British number 1 ranked at 181
Who was the last half decent woman we had? Has there been one since Sue Barker?
It's pretty embarrassing not to even have 1 player of any note.
Having only 1 male (you could argue 2 I suppose, but Henman is long gone now) is pretty poor and disappointing too IMO. Especially when countries so much smaller in terms of population can produce so many more.

If at first you don't succeed, you fail.

They were pretty much the same time I believe, so change my question to has there been a good once since both of them then if you must.

She wasn't number 1 for long, Anne's back on top. And Elena is racing up the ranks again, I think she jumped over 200 places.

I was just about to say that! Indeed, Elena has jumped 237 places with a semi-final in an ITF event in Asia and she is playing another one this week. Hantuchova's former coach (i forget his name) says he reckons she could be inside the top 100 within 12 months!
Fingers crossed his predictions come true. Baltacha is back!
Interestingly there are 28 UK females in the top 1000 and 31 males as well as 13 females in the top 500 compared to 12 males. But it's the lack of one or more players inside the top 100.....

Maybe, i read it in the paper, i mind it said her former coach... will check....
EDIT: parents never bought a paper, so can't find out now! But it could well have been Nigel.
