Winnable 2nd round match for Heather as well.

All the British women have put in good performances these last 2 days with Konta and Robson could/should arguably have won as well.

Can hardly believe how many Brits are in the second round. Is this some sort of record?

We've had four good women for the last two years now and they seem to do better every year. Three of them making it through this year, just poor Robson who missed out (and she someone who a Slam just a couple of years ago to 3 close sets).

Maybe even this year one of them will make the 3rd round. pray When was the last time that happened out of interest?

MH, if anyone can, Heather can yay
Can't remember when Anne and Elena made it through though. Anne seems especially fragile, many times at slams have I seen her snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Really think Judy is having an impact.
Was also impressed by way Laura has improved.

I believe that it is 10 years since a British woman made it to the third round.  Well done Heather.

I see Heather is now in singles at Olympics, as Alona Bondarenko has withdrawn with injury. Laura may also get a place as she's next on alternates list and there are rumours that Martić has withdrawn or is about to.

Anne & Elena also got a place in doubles a few days ago due to a withdrawal of a Romanian pair.

If Martic (or anyone else) does end up retiring, all four of the British women will end up playing in both draws! It sounds a bit of a cruel thing to wish for but I hope Martic does end up withdrawing so Robson can play in the Singles.
