Had to look it up, but it does seem inevitable:

'Godwin put forth the hyperbolic observation that, given enough time, in any online discussion—regardless of topic or scope—someone inevitably criticizes some point made in the discussion by comparing it to beliefs held by Hitler and the Nazis.'
It was hardly inevitable given the topic, as Hitler believed that the only people worthy of life were the Aryans.......in other words.....me and thee! The Jews were just for starters! Therefore, I really don't think that Godwin's law should apply in this case!

Meh, Godwin's law annoys me, nothing wrong with bringing Hitler into an argument, he's a good to use because everyone knows who he is.

It's fairly pointless though - should I compare you to Hitler just because you like animals?

Er what? I'm obviously talking about when it makes sense to refer to him, not randomly like you just did.

My issue is how people seem to think that using him in an argument somehow means the weight of it is much less, that's BS.

Well no, there's nothing wrong with referencing him where relevant - I'm aware that this discussion could be interpreted as a Nazicisstic stab at black people and therefore Hitler is relevant - just reminded me of Godwin's law!

It's awful on football fora, when trying to see the positive after a bad match has you labelled as a 'positivity Nazi'!

That would be silly. Hitler hated animals. He actually used to keep a dog, just so he could kick it.

Fact.

There are many recent studies that suggest that blacks are less intelligent than whites. That could partially explain the higher crime rate.
WHAT!!! I can't believe you wrote that shocking
This just shows that institutional racism is alive and well everywhere and dodgy research can be used to justify discrimination and prejudice ad nauseam.
In the last century there were many studies that said women were less intelligent than men!

The fact is, these observations by Nigel and I, not opinions, are being made backed up by studies. That gives them more weight than knee jerk reactions caused by offence, which seems to be what is happening here.
