Lib Dem vote has crumbled up and down the country. SNP have profited from this and look set for a majority government at Holyrood.
Anyone else following it?

Labour really struggling in Scotland - lost Kerr and McCabe.
East Kilbride and Hamilton were the 12th and 21st target seats for the SNP - Labour are fooked.

Sorry Andrew - I only just had quick peek at the results about half an hour ago. Labour and the Lib Dems are haemorrhaging seats to the SNP, with Iain Grey only managing to hold his Labour seat by a majorty of 153. I'm truly gobsmacked - four Edinburgh constituencies have gone to the SNP, and Labour only managed to hold Edinburgh Northern & Leith by a very narrow majority. SNP so far have 46 seats, Labour 28, Tories 1 having lost 3 to the SNP, and the Lib Dem candidates have lost their deposit in several constituencies. It isn't over yet but I hope the SNP get enough seats to have an outright majority.

That's good news for you Aileen! I really am quite stunned. I knew the SNP were generally reckoned to be in the lead in the polls, but I never dreamt it would turn out like this. Two fingers to Westminster, I think!

The blunt truth is that Alex Salmond is head and shoulders above the other party leaders and questions are now being asked if Iain Grey (what a weed!) will resign.

Scottish independence? Possible. I'm not sure why that's funny, exactly.

I don't think we'll become independent. I voted SNP but I want us to remain part of the union.

Yep my thoughts exactly. I'll vote no at an referendum on independence, but they're the best option to form a government just now.

I don't know enough about politics really, but I've started reading up on the Scottish economy. Apparently recent studies have shown that an independent Scotland would be the 7th richest country in the industrialised world.
