No cremation.she was buried ,apparently she and her Mum had already picked out a grave plot. Still very sad
Jewish tradition for it to be done so fast and she was cremated as that's the family's tradition apparently.

Just walked past Camden Square where all the messages and flowers have been laid down for Amy... really really spooky.

Do addicts have "choice"?

They have choice at the start - they know the risk of addiction.

A life is a life no matter how or why people die. Yes it is tragic for all people concerned we should all be more compassionate. The kids in Norway and Amy Winehouse as well they all have grieving parents who are we to judge.

Without our judgement, society's morality would never evolve.
As a fellow human being who appreciates what life gives me, I judge Amy. My sympathy is limited for those that are provided a privileged life and wilfully throw it down the pan due to lack of maturity and appreciation.

I know I'm paranoid. But am I paranoid enough?

Rupert Murdoch says he is touched by some of the messages left on Amy's phone.

Think you're failing to factor in massive insecurity, poor self-image, huge pressure, fear of failure, depression. If it was all just down to a "lack of maturity and appreciation" surely addicts would just "grow out" of it?

Morality is a very slippery concept indeed and always changing eg homosexuality now "judged" legal but I bet the majority still consider it to be immoral. But to return to the current discussion:
Nicotine, a very dangerous drug indeed, as is alcohol, is "judged" legal " whereas cannabis use, pretty harmless in the great scheme of things is "illegal." There's no morality in that one, only taxation and a misplaced sense of outrage.

Yeah, I accept that can play a big role in many cases. You can never know for sure but I'm not inclined to start looking favourably on people like Pete Doherty because of the point you make.

Apart from the fact that once they're addicted, it may be too late, as such is the nature of addiction.

Morality is a very slippery concept indeed
I didn't mean to emphasise 'morality' in regards to Amy Winehouse specifically and I have no moral issue with people who take drugs. I was just using it as an example of how it's not necessarily bad for us to judge each other, as long as we try and judge fairly and objectively.

Indeed it is usually supposed to be done with 24 hours of the death. Although as a Jew myself I was a bit bewildered at the cremation as I've always been taught Jewish law forbids it and we are supposed to be buried.
