Not sure I've seen this thread before. Not a vegetarian although kosher so don't eat pork. I Eat beef, chicken and lamb. However the girlfriend is a vegetarian (due to love of animals) so I tend to have vegetarian meals up to 4 or 5 nights a week (ie, when I'm with her). She does eat fish though as apparently "it's a protein, not a meat." That one always makes me laugh.

She's a vegetarian because she loves animals and yet has fish? Doesn't add up.

Alex, that's called a pescatarian. Meh, I love meat! (Andrew thinks meat means cock so just warning before he has an outburst as he does IRL)

It's indeed pescatarian and her "loving animals" reason simply doesn't add up if she's eating fish. Unless she thinks only animals that are cute looking are the ones that feel pain.

I simplified it a bit much. Becoming vegetarain was mainly brought about by a couple of incidents many years ago when she was twice served up a big plate of undercooked meat with all the blood oozing etc and she was so put off that she's never been able to eat meat again as even looking at meat brings back those images. She is also an animal lover which partly contributes.
However eating fish contradicts it all. The "protein not meat" thing is an excuse I've heard from several vegetarians for eating fish. Although I personally don't consider fish to be meat, I've always considered vegetarianism to be about not eating animals.

That's brilliant. I shall have to carry that in my pocket. Perhaps in laminate form.

I found it entertaining too.
But also disheartening when you see how you really can't get away without adding to the animal abuse.

Vegans can't use rubber? Pregnancy rates amongst them must be insane.

I wouldn't get me started on vegans though. I once convinced one that tomatoes feel pain. That was a fun day.

James won't eat vegetables at all.
I'm going to desperately try to change that...
