I think you are wanting it new so it looks good? I think that's the wrong reason to get a car if you've little spare cash... a car's just there for practical purposes but that's just my opinion.

I have spending issues at the moment. I don't particularly care how much something is if I want it. I went shopping today and spent about £100 on my ever increasing credit card - whatever. New things makes me happy. Jane Norman had 25% off everything!

A new car is 3/4 of a year's starting wage in most companies, it's just insane! How many years have you worked out it will take?

Buying a new car is one of the worst investments you can make, it loses a shocking amount of value the moment it's yours. Leave it for the rich kids.

Well hopefully I'll have 6K to play with so I'm hoping thats gonna pay for a car of some kind and a years worth of insurance. I'm paying outright, not gonna get it on finance.

If you're happy making a horrible financial investment for the sake of having something brand new, then fair enough. Suppose you just have to weigh the pros and the cons based on your personal preference but for most people, there are few pros.

I had a play around with an insurance quote and with the car I want - I reckon it'll come to about £10K Thats a deposit for a house that it!! Maybe I should stick to a second hand one .... I already have weighed up the pros and cons. Doesn't matter what I want now, I won't be buying a car until I'm 25 anyway - if I can pass.

I'm still eyeing up the new Jaguar XJ second hand, it's all counting on whether one of my oil companies succeeds within the next couple of months. Nearly bought my MD's Mercedes a couple of weeks ago but I was one week too late, someone else nicked it... was such a bargain Next on my list is a colleague's BMW M5 (2006) in January but it's got 180 miles on the clock! Not sure how long it will last.

I'd like a Peugeot though, my brother had one and it was really nice. Maybe buy the time I can afford to get the 107 it'll be available to get second hand.

What about a Ford Focus?
I know they are common but they are surely the best budget second hand car by far. Really cheap repairs as well.
