My family have only had 2 cars since I was born - a Mercedes and a BMW and we only got rid of the later because it was too big for London. They're f**king awesome cars.
Yeah, the size of some of them takes a lot of getting used to. Eventually it's all just having faith in yourself that you won't scratch a car when really, you don't know for sure.

La De Da Julia
We are a Citren, Ford, Peugeot family
Not really, you save a ridiculous amount of money in the long run? The one we have now is on it's 14th year and I think it cost something in the region of £15,000. And it's only broken down once - after driving to Italy and back.

I never thought there was much reason for driving about in London anyway.

Julia, any idea how many miles your parents' cars have?

It's down to how you feel about public transport and how much you enjoy driving. I'd rather take a 1.5 hour journey in the car listening to the radio than 45min on public transport.

My parents drive it around Europe.

Not sure now, I assume an insane amount because of my post ^ but I know they got it when it had gone 10,000 miles which is basically new. Never had a brand new car.

Wow, probably the only place on earth when driving takes longer than public transport
I'm hoping I can get back in the accounts game once I'm driving, then I don't have to be too picky on location of work.

First have to reply back saying I'm the driver... then they will probably give me £60 fine with 3 points OR £95 with 2.5 hour course with no points.
I'm desperately hoping the latter, I really don't care at all about the fine, it's the points.
I got offered the course for £95 instead of the penalty points, woohoo!!!

I use an app on my phone to warn me as I approach speeding cameras but I wasn't paying attention on London Bridge because I assumed going under 30 would be fine.
