My daughter has just completed work she had to do for university. The work was a report she had to do on a person she had interviewed in the social work department. She is in the last year of a social work degree and she has spent just two weeks in a social work environment during her 3.1/2 years. Her practice educator said that the report was done wrongly, my daughter said that she had not been instructed on how it was to be done. However the practice educator said she would be given a pass. I find it ridiculous that someone doing a social work degree has spent so little time in an actual social work department. My daughter had asked to be sent there as she had spent no time in one after 3.1/2 years of study. She is not the only one on her course  many of the other have had no experience at all. I find it strange when someone doing this degree has had no experience in the field that their degree is in. My daughter says it is statuary that students should have experience in social work. I feel sorry for her and her fellow students who are being flung into a job when they qualify without the correct experience.

The use of threats and insults towards pupils has become a common thing in my school too. A few months back we were called a 'disgrace' only a handful of times.
