I turned the pic on my computer.. but I see when I posted it, it apparently went back to the original.

Looking at it.. it's more my neck than my back. But then that's because I've had my back fixed. Very Happy

Oh no.. neck next. Frown

^^ where's the Robbie ? Frown

So we got an anonymous letter from one of our neighbours complaining about the ting-ting noise of our flagpole in the deepest, darkest part of winter earlier this year.. 6 feet of snow etc..
My hubby was displeased and didn't get around to it as promptly as apparently was expected because 7 days later we received another, more threatening letter with a copy of the By-Law regarding noise.. And if we didn't fix.it within yadayadayada then further action.. Yadayadayada .

A couple of weeks ago, the cops were called on one of my neighbours (we've all lived here peacefully and friendly for over 16 yrs).. A noise complaint about their 14 yr old daughter hanging out with some of her friends in her backyard at 10:30pm on her birthday. No alcohol involved.
The cops dutifully turned up, and told them they need to get new neighbours.
A few days they also received an anonymous letter re noise By Law.

Yesterday we received ANOTHER anonymous letter re noise. The culprit this time? My beautiful calming windchimes.
Really?! Gawwd forbid we lived in a dodgy area with boozy parties, drug dealers, dogs barking all night.

We all know who it is.. the new neighbours who moved in last year behind us..with their whiny kids who scream through the daytime at weekends when I'm trying to enjoy my book. :rolls eyes:

Advice?

I'm really sorry to hear that Linda! Sorry I've no advice to give you, but if you and your other neighbours get together, maybe someone will come up with something! They can't take you to court for wind chimes and kids laughter can they?

Funny you should say that about Robbie too. I've been wondering where he is! Maybe sunning himself on a beach again somewhere?

Forgot to mention we fixed the flag ting-ting noise straight after the second leter. (Canadian flag btw.. flown in tons of backyards, businesses, and every school.)

It's laughable.. my neighbours can't believe it.

And yes, Caz.. I can only speak for the flag business here, but I called our Municipality (local council to you) and asked if we could be taken to court. The guy I spoke to was very tongue-in-cheek when explaining that indeed we could (because they complained it was a sleep disturbance) but that between you and me they'd have a whole lot of hoops to jump through, and to just fix it... So we did.. and now it's the wind-chimes.  Rolling Eyes I'm going to call our Municipality again today.

What my other (good) neighbours did with their letter was send it back to them anonymously.. that way, if it wasn't them, they would be puzzled and throw it out. But if it WAS them, they'd know they'd been busted.
I'm going to do the same.

It's such a shame that one set of neighbours can spoil things for the whole street! I do hope you'll manage to sort them out! Maybe you should each take turns to have a good noisy party in the back yards and invite everyone but them!   Wink

So I found out today that according to newly passed Noise By-Law #6917-14 Schedule 2.. that windchimes are exempt.

So they can DO ONE!

Record the whiny kids then play it back to them.    See if they complain.
