It's not real modesty, one thing worse than being stuck-up is false modesty.

It's not false modesty, no bloody way.

And false modesty isn't so bad anyway, it still shows respect to your opponent even if you don't totally believe what you are saying.

I don't 'hate' him, I'm just not a fan. But that's because I generally just don't support anyone not English, or British in anything.
He seemed a decent guy when I got his autograph here.

No because sometimes you say a lie to make someone happy... I personally don't agree with it but many people consider that a good thing.

Nadal shouldn't have to be modest, he's the best clay courter on tour but if he beats our Murray this week, he'll probably say Murray had a good chance at beating him even though realistically no one is going to be Nadal.

What he says isn't sincere, therefore it's fake and that's why it's false modesty.

I don't think you can know that Dana, it's just your assumption and I really don't know what you base it on. He seems sincere to me whenever I have seen and heard him.
