Nope, thats what they are releasing the PS3 at. Came from the horses mouth itself.
It's extortoniate, when you consider the new Nintendo will reatail at between £150 and £200 (the price hasnt been released yet), and the 360 is £280.

I really dont know what to do about the PS3! I really do want one, but the price is very harsh. Also, I have spoke to some shops out here in Tenerife and they dont think they will be getting the console til December. (Release date is 17th Nov) And not very many consoles at that. So it's going to be difficult to get hold of one. They are so unorganised, they haven't even got an order/reserve list. Also, there might not be a decent selection of games available.
At the moment I have a PS2 and lots of games/accessories. Someone wants to buy it all from me for a good price. I dont know whether to get a Xbox 360 now and wait and see how good the PS3 is? Maybe after xmas the price will drop, there will be more games available, no software problems, and more available to buy! Or I could sell my PS2 and wait til Nov/Dec for the PS3.
The girlfriend has said it's one or the other, not both!
(Dont think I could afford both anyway!)
What are your thoughts???

DONT sell your PS2 games!!!!! they will play on PS3!!!! ps3 is completely backwards compatible... though i do recommend selling your PS2 as well as the controlers and also getting the PS3 with the smaller hard drive rather than the huge one... and PS3 is coming out together with a MILLION lovely games.... like final fantasy 13......

I'm a PS2 man myself, usually into sports games, FIFA 2006 being the current favourite. Recently got that Sonic the Hedgehog game with all the old Sega Megadrive games on one PS2 disk
So good, reminds me of hours and hours playing Sonic at primary school
Always been a Fifa fan rather than Pro Evo for some reason, probably end up with Fifa 07 at some point.
Interesting story about our PS2 actually. Basically, at the end of last year it died, and would have cost more to repair than buying a new one. I notice that there was a week left on the warranty from the shop. So I went in and asked if they could look at it etc, and they said they'd just replace it if I brought it in under warranty. So I raced home at the speed of light to get it (had to get the full package, with a controller etc), took it back, and they looked at the warranty and gave me a new one, no questions asked! Didn't even need to prove it was broken. Mine was one of the old big ones, and they gave me one of those new tiny ones
And even better, I sort of screwed them with the controller cos I gave them our old PS1 controller that was also broken (it was obviously from a different package as it was a different colour etc), but they didn't care. So didn't even need to buy a new controller
