In a relationship, who should buy the lingerie?
« on: May 04, 2010, 10:15 AM »
I just paid around £60 of stuff from La Senza which in this particular case I was happy to do so...
But here's my question... is it appropriate for a girl to ask their partner to buy things like lingerie for them or is the girl obligated to do it themselves?
I can't quite work it out, I do think the girl has some obligation to look hot.
EDIT:
For clarity, when I say lingerie, I'm referring to the casual definition of the word: Visually appealing, flirtatious underwear. And to clarify my other comment, I did not mean to say only the girl should try and look good, I think both the male and the female of a relationship should put in an effort.

Of course it's appropriate. Nice for the man in your life to choose lingerie that he finds sexy.
As for the girl 'having an obligation' to look hot. Words fail me....
Try looking hot when you've been up half the night breast feeding twins. Christ, if my husband had expected me to look hot constantly we'd never have gotten past the first two years!

I buy my own underwear that makes me feel good and look "hot". If I got a fella why would I expect him to buy it instead?

I think maybe splitting it 50/50 is fair.
The man pays half because the clothes are essentially for his eyes and pleasure only.
The woman pays half because they are her clothes and allow her to feel sexy.

I think you may have misunderstood me, I was referring to how the lingerie will make a woman feel extra sexy and confident which is therefore some benefit to her.

I don't know why, it's pretty much accepted fact. Lingerie tends to make women feel more sexy in front of their partner.
Not sure what you are disputing

I think thats all just a load of ******** if I'm honest. Same goes for all kinds of clothes. I don't know what couples do when they live together if they split all there earnings equally then fine I guess. If they are a couple still living with the parents why should one buy all the clothes for the other, if they are both working and have their own money?

Why would a woman want to feel more sexy. If my partner can't get me in my granny pants and hair all over the place, then I don't want to know. Jesus, Mark..... I thought I was shallow...

We're not talking typical clothes, we are talking about specific garments that are only to be worn privately for the benefit of their partner and some benefit to the woman as well.

I'm not making a point about whether women should want to feel more sexy or not, that's a personal thing. I'm just stating the obvious fact that this type of lingerie tends to make women feel more sexy when wearing it for their partner, not sure how you can dispute that fact.

Men don't care about underwear. Trust me. I've shagged more of them than you have, hopefully!

Why do you think a woman needs lingerie to feel more sexy and wear them for their partner.
Do you feel more sexy in crotchless boxers? I doubt it.
