I've had an MRI and x-rays as well as physio etc but nothing has shown up. Now after pain management I'm not seeing any improvement, so hoping I can get referred to Neurology for another consultation.

There really is nothing worse than back pain, my better half suffers constantly after breaking his back in a works accident, in the same accident he also crushed discs in his neck so altogether he is a bit debilitated, has had to be redeployed into an easier job but he still comes home at night in real pain, even after a cocktail of prescribed meds he can be in agony.  It really changes his personality sometimes when the pain is bad, but typical bloke does not like to be seen to be suffering or in pain!!!   I have never understood that about guys, he is practically requiring the last rites when he has a small head cold but a broken back and he carries on regardless #so strange!!!

Hope you get some answers and some resolve as there is nothing worse than being in pain and having no idea why.

Yes Hazel you have to push or they just think it is okay. Do not see why you have to put up with the pain and take painkillers to ease the pain. My husband can hardly walk and I had to blow my top with the doctor to get xrays done and for him to see a specialist. He sees the doctor on Friday maybe now we will get some action
I hope you do LB hug but it's pathetic that the medical profession so often have to be pushed to do anything.  Our "wonderful" NHS often leaves a lot to be desired - and a GP even admitted that fact to me.

I watched Anderson Cooper today.  I swear this guy put my whole life into perspective.
All he wanted to make his life better was a pair of new shoes that fit him so he could walk better outside in the real world.. and clothes that fit him.
Bless his heart... and bless his mamma who has made his clothes up until now.

Been given an antibiotic off my doctor with a note attached to the prescription saying to use extra contraception barrier until my next period!!  The tablets only last 5 days!  I've heard of antibiotics stopping the pill from working whilst taking them, but a few weeks after???  Whats all that about!

It seems most antibiotics don't affect the working of the pill. so it depends on which one you're taking.

Antibiotics

Rifampicin-like medicines are the only types of antibiotic that can make hormonal contraception less effective. This includes:
rifampicin
rifabutin

These types of medicine can increase the enzymes in your body. This is known as enzyme-inducing and can affect hormonal contraception.
Enzymes are proteins that control your body’s chemical reactions. Enzyme-inducing antibiotics speed up the processing of some contraceptive hormones and therefore reduce the levels of these hormones in your bloodstream. This makes the contraceptive less effective.

Apart from those mentioned above, all other antibiotics are not enzyme-inducing.

My advice to you Amy, is to have a word with the pharmacist at the chemist you usually go to.  If you don't have a regular one, then any pharmacist would be able to help you.

Soo... my backs getting worse. I've had a few times recently where when I bend over my back seizes and goes into spasm Frown Also getting more weird tingling sensations in my back and more pain in my left as well as right arm. All in all doesn't sound good. Unfortunately I haven't got an appointment with my GP till the end of the month as she was fully booked and is now on holiday. Seeing another dr tomorrow who will say what she said 2 weeks ago- I won't refer you anywhere, your own GP knows you better Rolling Eyes

Bloody feet.

This time of year, I train for the Great North Run. Got a place this year but won't be running.

I have no arches. For the past 20 years, I've corrected the flat feet thing with orthotics in my running shoes. But now they've stopped working. I'm practically a cripple.

Gutted to miss the GNR, but even if I got a physio appointment, it'd be six-eight weeks off. Just hobbled through a tennis match. Feel like a really old man.
