Bloody feet.

This time of year, I train for the Great North Run. Got a place this year but won't be running.

I have no arches. For the past 20 years, I've corrected the flat feet thing with orthotics in my running shoes. But now they've stopped working. I'm practically a cripple.

Gutted to miss the GNR, but even if I got a physio appointment, it'd be six-eight weeks off. Just hobbled through a tennis match. Feel like a really old man.
Awww.......I'm sorry to hear that Nigel. Hope you'll feel better soon!  hug

Started a new tablet  but doc did not tell me about the side affects. Woke up next day my right leg was black and blue also both my eyelids were the same needless to say they were stopped right away. Did not want people to think I had gone a couple of rounds with my husband.

It was a bit because these tablets had a lot of side affects. They can increase your white cells in your blood and  liver and also kidneys also reduce appetite. As I am diabetic I have to keep a close eye on my blood sugar. It was given as the tablets I was taking was expensive the one they wanted me to take was half the price. I think with doctors being in charge of their budgets they are trying to cut costs. Thanks Iris.

I have been ill and recovering for about 4 months now.Anemia caused by b12 deficiency,a thing I wouldn't wish even to my worst enemy.I'm still pretty weak ,but finally learned not to "play" with my health and to take care of myself properly.
I wish everybody struggling with some medical issue a fast and full recovery. hug

Sorry to hear about some of your health issues. I was someone who used to take it for granted.

Ivelina.. I take 1000mg B12 every day, otherwise I'd need shots. It's important to keep your B12 levels steady at all times.

Hmm- ill doesn't seem to cover it for me, agony is a better word Smile

Since last Monday I've had my hand and wrist seize (while holding a mug- thankfully empty) and the mug was only removed 4 hours later after a hefty dose of diazepam! However my hand didn't actually start working again until the next morning.

Tuesday- in agony (had the doctor out the previous Thursday because I was in so much pain) back to the doctor (different one) who wouldn't give me anything stronger because of long term effects (like I cared!) and just upped the dosage on something I was already taking.

Wednesday- in agony all day, mum gets in from work and helps me out of bed as I couldn't lever myself up. Gets me downstairs as my back continues to spasms causing my to cry out. A short time later I black out Rolling Eyes come round and mum phones medical practice to speak to duty doctor- who eventually phones back and as I'm talking to her I black out again. Taken to the doctor and guess what I did in the waiting room? Yep, blackout out again. So after a lot of rubbish from the doctor I manage to get them to give me diazepam to at least relax the muscles.

Friday get a phone call offering my a cancellation appointment with orthopedics that afternoon. The result of which is that I', getting sent for a bone scan that they think will be clear and referring me back to the pain clinic Rolling Eyes

Thursday-Sunday, high on diazepam, still got really bad nerve pain but don't care as much as as I'm on cloud doped up Smile

Monday the course of diazepam has finished and I start feeling sorer again.

Today- feeling really sore again though a massage this afternoon has helped a bit.

I love my life

P.S. and still waiting for a decision on my benefits 6 weeks after my medical!

This is awful, Hazy. Really sorry to hear you've been in such pain. I know you've had ongoing back problems, but didn't know you had hand and wrist problems too. Yikes!

Have you been referred to a surgeon?

Gosh Hazey, you've been through the wringer a bit.  I did actually see that photo of your on FB, mug in hand.

Is there some kind of pain specialist that you could be referred to?  Jeez, this seems to be dragging on for ages for you. hug

Unfortunately they're about 99.9% sure that its a chronic nerve problem that has nothing to do with there being any pressure or 'physical' problem with the nerves. The main form of treatment is to manage the pain and then build up what you can do. Basically though my nerves are stuck on pain the whole time so they get no break to recover.
Scotnadian, yeah its an upper back problem but gives me severe referred pain down my right arm especially and starting to in my left as well. The orthopedic consultant is sending me for this scan (which I'm quite excited about becuae they Gove you stuff that shows up on x-rays so you glow!) And then back to the pain specialists, hopefully at a specific back pain clinic.
Seeing my own gp today who was off last week . Been really sore since Monday when the diazepam stopped, but doubt I'll get more Smile,
I'll keep you updated but obviously this has reduced the time I can spend on the computer or online in general wave

You poor thing!  shocking

I know all about nerve probs with my back... with the pain just constantly being 'on' and the muscles constantly contracting down my leg to my big toe (L4/L5 pressing on sciatic nerve.. wasn't able to get down the stairs in my house last year for over 3 months and had to sleep thru the pain thanks to the high doses of morphine my doc thankfully prescribed whilst waiting for surgery, and he gave me a wheelchair so I could get transported for hospital visits. Weaning my body off the morphine was terrible, but gawd, did I ever need it at the time!)
Thankfully, the surgery worked and my back is fantastic now. Back to my walking and dance/aerobics again...something I thought I'd never be able to do again.

Don't give up, my friend!  hug
