I had a medication review with a chronic pain consultant today- the outcome is that I will be getting an appointment in the new year to get a stellate ganglion block. Basically local anaesthetic will be injected into ganglion (nerve crossroads) and should block the pain signals being sent giving me relief from the constant pain.
In theory it sounds great and just the kind of thing I was hoping would be suggested so YAY! But I'll not get my hopes up till it's done. Also the effects could be temporary (a few hours) or last up to a couple of weeks so if it does show signs of helping then it will probably take a number of repeat injections to hopefully cause long term improvement.
But the most positive outcome of an appointment with a specialist in a while
...though the DWP have decided I'm not entitled to ESA and therefore I'm fit enough to do some sort of work
so got an appeal to put in about that.
