Standing for 20 minutes at a pay-point in a major high street store behind a couple who (a) are buying half the damn shop and (b) are complaining/arguing/haggling about the cost of one or more of the items thereby taking up the time of THREE members of staff - when all I want to do is to pay for one small item.
And they were still at it when I did eventually get served!

Ha-ha! ... I don't really think they were haggling, but were definitely unhappy about something - although not half as unhappy as I was having to wait for so long behind them, and by the time a free member of staff turned up there must have been about ten folk behind me. There should be a special point for customers who have complaints. In fact I always thought that that was what Customer Services was for!

Yes, I suppose so Aileen, unless maybe you're being overcharged for something when you get to the till! Maybe the shelf ticket was wrong.......Happens a lot in the supermarket we use!

I'm not saying they're perfect (I've on two occasions spotted goods beyond the 'use by' date in their food hall which I discreetly drew a member of staff's attention to), but it was M&S's store in Princes Street. It definitely had to do with at least one of the items of clothing. I couldn't hear the exact conversation but from the way the pair kept holding the items up and closely inspecting them whilst at the same time remonstrating with the assistants, I reckon that they had either spotted flaws or, what in retrospect seems more likely, were actually trying to find flaws in the hope of getting a price reduction - so, yes, they could have been haggling!
I'm not into haggling myself, but I have chanced my luck if goods are slightly but not noticeably faulty. In fact I recently bought a small lamp which has a little scratch on its metal base and got it for £11 instead of £22, with no argument.

One of the worst for me.
People talking to you when you have headphones on and it is clear you are listening to music.

Actually no robbie as when on public transport (when I listen to music the most) I am very conscious about the volume of the music playing.

Good for you - because one of my pet irritations is people who have the volume turned up so loud they might as well not have headphones on. That, and listening to people's lengthy, loud, one-sided (and sometimes quite personal) conversations on their mobiles. It really isn't necessary!

Plastic bags that say 'tear here" you do but nothing happens and you have to get the scissors.
