We walked right down Kentish Town road almost as far as Camden... I can't say I liked it especially. Rolling Eyes It was very similar to some parts of Birmingham. We found a good stationers on that road... we'd made some flyers for the gig, but they were 4 to a page, and we needed to cut them up. They only charged us £2 to use their guillotine. Smile Used an internet cafe there as well... it was OK. I can see why it would put people off London though wink

hahaaa, i can definitly see why it puts people of London - you should see what it's like on Sunday's...very peak of shopping, and Camden is the number one spot for punks all over the world - it's known for all the body art, punk clothes...shops...
if anyone is ever in London, i really would recommend you to go to Camden Loch on Sunday...about 12ish - the clothes is sooo good, cheap and unique and just to see the world of punk...might not attract you when hearing about it but ive never seen anything like it in any of the countries ive ever been too.... Rolling Eyes
and if you're going by car...DON'T!! no parking at all and you've got a good chance of someone scraping your car-side...better to just take the tube, easy + fast! (sounding like a travel agent....)  wink

would love to hear about the gig btw John!  Very Happy

lovely article Laura!!!  lol some of it was really funny actually! and what were al those references to Murray...at first i thought they were putting him down!?  :?  Rolling Eyes
Quote

Ask Nadal to a garden party and he will greet the hosts graciously, for he is polite to the point of bashfulness, but do not ask him to play a tennis match because the grass would be torn to shreds, the neighbours would wonder what his curdling cry of “vamos” meant and, if they were enticed to peer over the fence, they would be confronted by a piratical leviathan who is actually not half as chilling as he looks.

Chilled would be more appropriate, for Nadal has one simple desire in life. He is about winning tennis matches and the chances are that he is going to be doing a lot more of that as the years pass. While he is about it, Nadal is attracting to his chosen sport youngsters who want to be like him. In deepest Berkshire, at my own club, when the junior co-ordinator asks youngsters with rackets that are often bigger than them who they are going to be today, it is a toss-up between Nadal and Murray.

love it!!  wink

Something I noticed while I was there was that everyone seems to drive with their mirrors folded in... best way if you don't want to lose 'em I suppose. Rolling Eyes

Gig now... venue was very small, somewhat larger than the average living room, but small for a gig. Not a very large audience... first on was this girl (I don't know her name) and her guitar, doing some accoustic/folk type songs. She was fairly good. (Apart from wearing a ridiculous hat). lol

Next should have been The Mexicolas, I was a little bit p***ed off that they weren't there. Instead there was an apallingly crap band called Mavis Tuesday (I've no idea) who were quite boring and went on far too long. Everybody cheered when they announced there last song wink

Then finally Mohair came on. They were really really good! They just rock, seriously. I'm sure they will be big.

They weren't on for long enough... I think they should have carried on. But at the end they came down off the stage and talked to the people, I went and grabbed a setlist off the stage, borrowed a pen from the bar (2 man down  ) and got it signed by their singer/guitarist guy, which was very cool. Very Happy

I asked him what had happened to The Mexicolas... he said they'd played together before, but he didn't know what had happened to them that time. :?

I have some photos and video, but they're only from my phone so the quality probably won't be too good. Neutral

All in all, it was a pretty good night. Well apart from some lunatic driver trying to kill us, it was fine. Smile

Rafael Nadal has chosen more sober attire than usual for his return to Spain at the Madrid Masters.

The 19-year-old has cut a swathe through the higher echelons of the men's game in 2005, all the time wearing three-quarter length trousers he calls 'piratas'.

But maybe aware that friends and family are probably watching, he has gone for a traditional look in the Spanish capital.

The muscle vest he wore at the US Open is gone and in come knee-length shorts.

"I just wanted to see how the shorts felt again," he said. "I like them. Just a change, nothing permanent.

"The piratas will be back in Australia (in January)."

They've done 3 albums so far, with another due late 2005/early 2006 jumping-w00t

Each album is good in a different way, so I can't say one is the best album, they all are. Smile

I don't think they've done a bad song yet, but these are especially good. :rocks:

From "Showbiz" I'd recommend the tracks "Muscle Museum" and "Unintended"

From "Origin of Symmetry" (maybe this *is* the best one after all), "New Born", "Space Dementia", "Plug In Baby" and "Citizen Erased".

From "Absolution" (the first one I got), "Time Is Running Out", "Sing For Absolution", "Falling Away With You" and "Endlessly".

That should do to start with, and if you like all of those, you have to get the albums. Guy with axe (Entirely unrelated, just I am a mad axe murderer, and I love that icon :P)

I had OK Computer in the CD player yesterday, it's a good album, but I honestly can't see why people make such a fuss about Radiohead. :?

I suppose I'd need to listen to some more of their music to appreciate them properly. Recommendations anyone? Smile
