The mind doubts, but the heart never does.

Unfortunately I couldn't find it. Frown
That's a pity.  I, for another, would have signed up.  We are such little fish in great big pond, but whatever we can try to do to help must be worth doing.

I got this petition from tomthoms in NZ, which I've signed (I've also PMd you it), so if anyone else would like to take action to try and make the Indian government realise that their total disregard for the safety of women is not only unacceptable but has no place in the 21st century -

7 community workers, 6 female 1 male,  shot in Pakistan by the Taliban.
They were vaccinating children against Polio and working from  a centre that promoted education for girls.
Despair.

I really do despair about the fact that those people have been killed whilst trying to do good. To keep children free of Polio and perhaps other diseases. Do these people not know that they are given to try and stop disease. I am afraid unless people are educated in those third world countries our soldiers and health organisations are wasting there time and lives. When the troops leave they will leave a country that has learned nothing.I also pity women and girls in their country to see such a waste of talent is just pathetic.

And we signed another one yesterday as well, and so has Caz.  Also I've forwarded both to some other contacts.  I understand the Indian government have provided a 48 hour 'window' during which they will receive petitions.

See, I could take Willem Defoe seriously when he was all Platoon, but ever since that awful movie with Madonna, it's all been downhill since then.

In fact, this is probably his best acting stint in a while.

And Canada is good. yes

So out of 123 countries, the good old UK came in at No.18, ahead of France at 33 and Germany at 35.  I'm a bit surprised though that the USA made it to No.7, particularly as crime and violence are taken into consideration

Not surprisingly the lowest-ranked countries were, in descending order, Syria, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Burma and Zimbabwe.
