Bin laden may be gone ,but the idea behind him his very much alive.Lots of other men willing to die for this cause
Yup, and so it goes on. Not much you or I can do to change it. Just makes me want to live for now, and appreciate all I have. Despite lots of garbage, I'm pretty blessed, tbh...

According to BBC reports, this is unsubstantiated and when questioned further the US official admitted it was unclear how the woman got into the line of fire and may have put herself there.
Did this woman deserve to be shot dead? What was her crime?

obama will milk this for all it's worth,as any politician would, however he will have some hard questions to answer also, as he is the one who wanted to close Gitmo. Now the news is saying it was through the men captured that they got a great deal of info about Bin Laden. They still haven't posted any pictures of him ,I don't get that because they were very quick to show Saddum's hanging. One of the fathers of the young man Todd Beemer who took charge of Flight 93 said in a very somber interview he was glad about Gitmo because of this very reason.namely the information they got,i think from water boarding.

We are all glad a murdering terrorist had been caught and dealt with. But lets not think it is all over.
Governments especially western ones will have to remain on guard. I still dont approve of torture
from either side. It just makes people more bitter. Here's hoping it will make young muslim men think
twice about joining terrorist groups.

Elly, you echo my thoughts entirely. Let's hope this action does not lead to revenge. If only it had been managed some years ago. How many atrocities have been perpetrated in the name of religion over the cennturies - and yet the iconic Jesus only preached love - makes you wonder at the mentality. Mohammed too was a prophet of this same religion - it is one of the reasons that turned me agnostic as I could not understand the violence and the hatred that takes place in the name of religion.

My thoughts exactly Jan! I've said on this site before........that's the real meaning of the word 'blasphemy'! Commiting atrocities in the name of God....any God!

Courage isn't absence of fear but mastery of it.

I'm not surprised so many suspicions about Bin Laden's death are rife. The US forces had Obama's instructions to kill him, but I think that at least the Secretary-General of the UN, or another of its senior officials, should have been invited to view the body and confirm it's identity.
As it is, the indecent haste and the method in which the body was disposed of raises more questions about Bin Laden's death than it answers, and is also more likely to inflame the desires of Islamic extremists for revenge. Would holding the body for a few more hours before making an official announcement really have made any difference in the circumstances?
If Obama really wanted Bin Laden killed, then I think he made a big mistake here. It may have helped boost his political credibility for the moment, but his personal kudos will quickly fade if the US is once again seriously targeted by the leading fanatics Bin Laden helped to groom.
Britain, already a well-known breeding ground for Islamic terrorists, will also not thank him. We have enough financial problems without having to spend yet more on our own homeland security, unless of course our government does the sensible thing and pulls our troops out of the expensive, bloody and futile war in Afghanistan since it is now more than ever an irrelevance. Let's not forget 7/7 and the subsequent British terrorist activities which were mercifully foiled. This country's true enemy is, and has been for years, within our shores.

They were saying on the TV last night that it's unlikely he would have been identifiable, as he was shot in the face, but, Obama wanted a DNA test done!
