Do you think colloquial language will die out? I do.

You don't think it's important to retain colloquial language? Or accents? Are we all going to sound the same? Will there eventually be one universal language? How dull.

Well that's what God intended before the Tower of Babel, right?
But yes, I don't care if that were to happen but I don't think it would completely.

Just a quick note: I have organised a new event called Tennis Fantasy League (it is on Andy Talk) application closes on the Thursday before Indian Wells and I would like a good few players participating. Private message me the player you want to represent.

That makes me want to
. I love the rich fabric of language.
Do you think we should stop teaching physical hand-writing in schools?
Do you think they will come out with a 'Baby-Glass' so new parents can strap it onto their newborns. Maybe a cuddle-machine and an automatic feeding station.
If we don't promote and retain physical social interaction, do you think that will eventually perish too?

I never think about language. Us kids never miss a beat. We use slang more than proper words, so accent etc does not matter to me.

I'm concerned about our current upcoming and future generations when I see a rise in obesity, type 2 diabetes, and basic social skills. I wonder if the art of physical hand-writing and colloquial language will eventually perish.
And people wonder why Royal Mail (NZ Post here) are cutting jobs. Perhaps we should be encouraging people to write more, and keep jobs going.
Schools here are now having i-pads as part of the stationery list

When last did you physically write something? (Not just a signature.)
Valentine's card
Made the card and actually wrote the verse inside.

Kiwi's don't have really different accents. They rolls their R's down on the south island apparently, but nothing like the diverse accents you come across in the UK.
They appear not to know the difference between brought and bought, hysterical and historical, specific and pacific
to name a few. Oh, women always comes out woman which grinds me
