Courage isn't absence of fear but mastery of it.

Aileen, on a quick web search after a couple of questions to some of my friends who study theology and early church history more deeply than myself I came across this article...there are a lot that say pretty much the same thing but this one reads fairly easily, so hopefully will help explain the reincarnation thing
As I said, not something I'd ever heard of and it was interesting to find out more and see some of the arguments for and against.

OK you caught up with me. Will read article with interest.

Well, they are nice people, but a bit strident for me. I'm sure that is as a result of being "born again".
I'm thinking she is not a Christian, BUT, she does attend their services - maybe they are going to strike while the iron is hot. I surely hope she gets back in one piece - (how selfish does that sound !!)
How are you? How's the funding - any joy? I was doing my Meeter & Greeter stint at one of the hospitals today. These poor souls - some of them are wound very tight - I just want to hug them!
Watch this space for a report on my, hopefully not erstwhile, cleaning lady !!
Maybe they just want to give her a chance to chat and hear more in a more relaxed environment that isn't a service.
Yeah it's hard visiting people in hospital, it's such a depressing place anyway
the hugs for being wonderful
Ahh the funding looks the same as always
still applying for jobs, maybe the Phd will have to go on the backburner for a bit

I didn't mean you should rush into all this - I've just bought my third set of baby clothes this year (and it's only March), got three more babes to go this year, but all these Mums are what I would call mature. The latest baby's Mum is 40 and the other are all in their mid 30's. This seems to be the way it is - getting the career jump started/getting the guy/getting the house - it all takes time!

Oh, I just adore these baby samplers. Problem is, when you do one for someone, you're stuck for ever more. Do you also get them framed before you hand them over? Framing is kind of expensive, isn't it .............

Yeah I do, but quite often do my own framing which makes it less expensive...also I tend to do them for people I'm really close to so don't mind spending the money on
Also now got enjoy patterns that I can just re-use some of them which cuts down on the cost.

Do you buy a frame or actually make it? I bought a book on framing, but all that geometry is complicated .... my math skills are down around zero

No buy the frame
not that clever
Always find that it's hard to get frames the right size though as quite often the cross-stitches are odd sizes
So off topic here...maybe we should start a needlework/knitting thread

There are various flea markets around that have hundreds of weird sizes of frames ..... yes, sorry we are off topic (my fault) .....

Enjoyed reading this little "off topic" as, until I got (so far relatively mild) arthritis in my fingers, I did cross-stitch and tapestries. Gave quite a lot away as gifts but after disastrous attempts at self-framing, got it done professionally. Incidentally, Hazel, probably the most satisfactory piece of cross-stitch I ever did was a beautifully illustrated Lords Prayer, which I gave to a close relative who I knew would appreciate it.

Quite a lot to digest here, so I've put it in a folder in my emails. I also mentioned the removal of references to reincarnation again to my friend, and he tells me this supposedly happened around the 4th century ...

Good for you. I did the same even although my parents were NOT happy initially. I told them that I refused to be a hypocritic and just use the church for a splashy show like so many of my contemporaries did. However, I'm glad to say that after they took their concerns to the minister of their church, who agreed with me, they accepted it.
No, I don't think my dad was too happy, but I have 2 younger sisters (1 of which has married in a church) for him to walk down the isle. And I do find church weddings to be a bit showy and I'm not a showy type of person. My hubby's sister has managed it twice in a church (so far
)

My children have never been 'Christened' - they know right from wrong, but it's not my place to force a belief system on them - they can make up their own minds, as they have done, and are turning out to be decent people.
Mine too
and despite some people saying that they will go to hell
I have no regrets on that score.
