I'm not sure it's PC to be against the Bible idea - I hate it because it's a government pushing a religion. Religion ought to be a personal matter, with no place in schools (apart from learning about the cultures of the world) or public institutions. I'm sure I'll be told off for saying that though.

I totally agree with you, and Cameron's equally idiotic by supporting Gove's idea just because last year was the 400th anniversary of its publication. Interesting though that Gove is being asked to pay for this himself, although he says he's still going ahead with his idea even if he can't find a private sponsor. Complete pillock.
Interesting read Joe, thanks for posting. I think he's right that people shouldn't be afraid to speak out if they are Christian - all the others do - but its ridiculous to push it on kids.
I had it shoved down my throat at school, but then that was the norm in those days. Things have moved on considerably - multi-ethnic society, etc - so I believe all children should have the freedom to choose which, if any, religious path they want to go down.
