Hmm, I hadn't really bothered to think of a particular point when posting.

I don't know about the Bible, but how many people have been murdered in the name of Christianity?  It wouldn't surprise me in the least if that number  too ran into seven figures.

It does seem a bit strange, but maybe nobody's all that interested?  I'm certainly not, mainly because I'm not RC so it doesn't affect me personally.  It don't see it as a big deal anyway.  He resigned because, at the age of 85, he felt he was physically and mentally unable to fulfil his Papal duties, which seems fair enough.  I never did understand why somebody as old as he was appointed in the first place.

The man's health has deteriorated and perhaps he is going senile. I think perhaps the conclave of cardinals will see sense and vote for a younger applicant. It must be very hard for someone of the pope's age. Maybe a pope from the third world would bring some new blood into the papacy.

He certainly isn't going senile, but felt physically he couldn't travel or work the long days a Pope has to do.

  Do you apply for the Papacy? Seriously, how does it work? Do they all do a pitch in the conclave and the one with the most mates wins? Or do you rig some holy trick that tips your competitors out the barrow? Or is it all dirty politics?

I was told the next Pope is going to be the anti-Christ in disguise who is going to come and make a temporary peace between Israel and Palestine through UN and win many nations trust. That would apparently be his first step to evil power and control.  shocking

 Let me get this clear - the Moslems and Jews let a Christian broker a peace deal? Shouldn't think so. My money would be on the Chinese - they have the economic clout, and wouldn't they fit the godless Antichrist role perfectly!  devil

No, and that’s simply because the anti-Christ has to come from somewhere where people won't hesitate to put their trust into someone or some institute (religious) where it’s least likely to occur. Chinese are an easy target and too predictable. You are not seeing the irony of it all. The anti-Christ has to come from ether the Jews or Christians where the idea had originated first, otherwise it would defeat its own purpose. devil
